Actually Digimon is completeley different from Pokemon (Except for the suffix 'mon').

They're pretty different shows.
Digimon is about kids from a world based on our own, with lots of very large monsters, climactic battles, actual life-threatening situations.
Pokemon is more off-the-wall. Digimon tries to base itself in reality a little more.

yeah,it is WAY better,i really dont understand why it never got the credit it deserved,espeacially when pokemon was frickin EVERYWHERE.pokemon WASNT very good,it was just a stupid gimmick to hook kids.digimon had heart,and it was fun to watch,i remember being so excited to watch it when i was younger,and i still love it.

2) its not the same story every single season

4) Digimon actually finishes what the kids want to accomplish
and theres a bunch of other reasons why digimon is way better
the only good thing about Pokemon is their games and those are only good until you beat the elite four, which you can get done in a day or 2

shareThis is an everlasting argument between poke fans and digi fans... yes... the digimon tomogatchi was released first... followed by the later released Red and Green (yes, it was originally green) versions of the pokemon game for gameboy. But both animes were done in Japan at very close to the same time. Besides, if one looks at all the animes with cute fuzzy animals that have magical powers, both Digimon and Pokemon are complete ripoffs of other material. Personally, I think digimon is well ahead of its time. I mean, it came up with the concept of the Matrix before the Matrix came out. Personally, I think that pokemon is... well... just not very entertaining anymore. At least the anime isn't. Digimon, however... well, I could watch one episode over and over and never get bored... The characters are explored more in depth, the villains have actual motives instead of just being "evil." Digimon can actually speak more than one word... For me, at least, it's hands down for Digimon.

Absolutely agreee with Peep, Digimon had heart, it dealt with things.
Not only that but Pokemon practically do the same thing every episode.

I like Digimon very much and feel very nostalgic with it. I also liked Pokémon but it was too many episodes that I changed the series for the Pokémon videogames. The videogames are far much better than the anime series. Digimon has a better story and good characters. I also prefer the first two seasons (three and four were all right but I miss Tai, Davis and company).

shareI admit that it does rather tick me off that people out there still stubbornly beleive that Pokemon came first. The Pokemon ANIME may have come out before the Digimon one (Pokemon aired around 97-98, Digimon in 99), but as a CONCEPT, Digimon came first. As has been previously mentioned, the Digimon Virtual Pet came out first - in 1995 - while the Pokemon Gameboy games first came out in Japan in 1996 before being released worldwide two years later.
As far as the Pokemon and Digimon animes are concerned, I make an effort not to get caught up in such arguments, but some of the foolish ignorami I've crossed paths with on the internet really aggravate me. I've tried and failed to convince them that Digimon came out before Pokemon, and have decided to wash my hands of the whole damn thing.
However, if I HAD to pick between the two, I would quite happily choose Digimon. Why? Digimon has the two things Pokemon has been severely lacking in the last 10 seasons. Characters with actual personality and - above all else - ACTUAL PLOTS EACH SEASON! Pokemon stopped telling its story once its third season ended and as time has gone on its become clearer and clearer to me that the only reason the Pokemon anime is still on TV is because of the games. As I said in a post on a Pokemon thread: "If Pokemon were a REAL anime instead of a cash cow, the whole damn story would've been resolved YEARS ago!"
Now barring the aforementioned idiots that refuse to accept that Digimon came first even when genuine proof of the matter is staring them right in their faces, I genuinely dont have a problem with people liking Pokemon. But there's a reason why - back when I reviewed the Red & Blue Pokemon games - I said in the blurb for the video that the games are the only part of the franchise that have any real life. Furthermore, going so far as to say Pokemon is superior to Digimon (particularly the Pokemon anime as it is these days) is like calling Sarah Jessica Parker attractive. Its just not true, no matter how one chooses to spin it.
We all have our problems, some just hide it better.
I've said this so many times, but:
Pokemon - Best video games
Digimon - Best anime
Yu-Gi-Oh - Best card game
Beyblade - Best toys
These dumbass fans think everything is a ripoff of pokemon,Digimon aired first and is the more superior show,there are actual storylines with in Digimon but Pokemon is just the same damn thing every season,I stopped watching after season 3 or 4
