why is it rated pg?

why is tremors 3 rated pg? 1,2,and 4 was all rated pg-13.why did this one get a lower rating?

reply

I guess they wanted more DVD sales. Tremors 3 had less human gore than the previous two (the only human gore I remember is the blood on Miguel's clothes after he falls to his death, and the blood on Dr. Merliss's back), but there was still quite some creature gore. The assblaster that fell onto the fence had intestines hanging out. I think MPAA don't feel that 'creature violence' (i.e. violence inflicted on fictional creatures) is that severe.

Or maybe because it is not a theatrical movie; MPAA might figure that it looks scarier on the big screen. Sure, T2 was also not released in theaters, but it was still gorier, so it got a PG-13 rating anyway.

I believe there was also less (or more innocent) swearing in T3.

Actually, I heard that it was rated P.G-13 at first, but since the company was "Universal Family Home Entertainment," parents were complaining the movies were too gory...so they changed it to a P.G. rating so more younger kids could watch it instead w/out the intense gore. That's why the explosions are so crappy in this movie, and there's not human gore at all :(

Other countries gave this movie a higher rating. UK gave it 12 and Australia gave it M. Those ratings are higher than PG.

In the Netherlands all four movies are rated 12+.

Help! I lost some weight and I can't find it anymore!

out of the million times they say ass blasters along with the other swearing, shouldnt that alone get it to pg13?

seriously serious

reply

They say the s-word repeatedly. Not many PG movies these days have s-word in it even once.

Old thread I know...
This movie is definatly a PG-13 movie.
The swearing alone makes it PG-13. Why ever it got PG is beyond me.

Yeah I think it should've been PG-13 also. It still had gore and plenty of profanity. In the trailer it says it's PG-13 so it sucks that they toned it down.

Eleven years later!!!

PG because of gore?
What Gore?
Very little human gore!
Graboid, etc. gore can be equated to what packing plant people see every day.
The burgers and fried chicken you might eat has the same gore to the worker there.

If you live on a farm you probably see this type of gore every time you kill a hog, chicken, Thanksgiving turkey etc.
Kids hunt and field dress deere during hunting season.
No requirement to be adult to hunt.
Mainly know your weapon and exercise extreme caution.

Doesn't need pg rating for animal gore.

From all the evidence I've seen, the film is actually rated PG-13. There's a PG-13 rating before and after the film, and the MPAA website lists the film as a PG-13. The PG you see on the back on the cover is a printing error.
