the basketball bet

I did not understand the basketball bet so somebody please help me.

When Rico, Mitch, and Ace are at the apartment eating chinese food, they bet on who can make a basket.

Mitch puts up 5000, Camron puts up 5000, cash, on the table.
Mitch makes the shot, so he has 10,000, right there, on the table.
Camron tells Mitch to double up, meaning put up 10,000 instead of the 5,000 he put up at first, and if Mitch wins, Mitch will then have 20,000 instead of the 10,000 he currently has ( double up ). Camron puts up 10,000 ( "there go your five, bet a five right back")

Mitch misses.

But instead of giving Camron the 10,000 he has on the table to pay Camron, he says he does not have it and ask Ace for 10,000. Why? Why didn't he just give Camron the ten from the table?

By the way, I thought the casting in this movie was very good.
