where can i find this?

i'm a huge billy wilder fan, seen all his movies, except this one. where can i find it? anyone know what it is about?

It's available here: http://www.ihffilm.com/842.html

But Wilder's connection to the project is tenuous. He did not direct it but cut if from a 80-90 minute film to 22 minutes.

The content is also very disturbing, featuring extensive footage of concentration camps. THis documentary is like no other Wilder film.

Indeed, he mentions in 'Conversations With Wilder' (Cameron Crowe, '99) that he didn't direct it at all: "I just cut it".

Remarkably, it was originaly a hour-and-a-half documentary. I don't know why he cutted it down so drasticly. He rarely spoke about the docu. Probably because it was very personal (he was a jew and many of his familymembers died in Auschwitz), and Wilder didn't like to talk about personal things.

Btw, a related docu I recommend is 'Nuit et Bruillard' (Alain Resnais, '55). It's also rather short (namely one half hour), but very strong.

You can find it included as a feature on the DVD of the documentary An Unfinished Film.

It's also on YouTube.
