Question about this show...

Does anyone know why this show was cancelled? It was well-written and well-performed. Not to mention Kristin was hilarious! What a shame...I'm sure NBC executives are kicking themselves for letting it go.

Because it's badly written and badly performed?

Clearly everyone has different opinions, and you like it - but most seem to dislike it for the reasons above. That would be why it was cancelled.

Worst....Show....Ever.

Anybody who thinks this show is funny is obviously is a sado-masichist. Thank god it was cancelled...thank god!

reply

ok...FYI to all of you (especially "who's she trying to be...karen walker") that is her real voice voice and i think it's wonderful so dont diss her over something she cant control and that makes her unique!

reply

for me her voice is what makes her character so good, i don't mean to diss her by saying this although it can be taken in an offensive way (at the same time one could choose to take it as a positive or compliment), her voice is a comedic voice, it may get annoying at times but it certainly adds to it's characters making them more funny, giving them more flavour ect.

I've seen five of the episodes on YouTube.com and I think she's absolutely grand on the show. I'm sure she doesn't like to hear this, but she's ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!! Her comedic timing is quite good (I really liked her in "Bewitched").

I'm glad they let her show off her heavenly singing voice. It's so beautiful to listen to. Hearing her in "Wiced" is mesmerizing (as is Idina Menzel's voice).

Cheno's speaking voice is so sweet to listen to, as well (I'd louve to hear her on an answering machine). I could listen to her talk forever (although she'd need her beauty sleep...NOT MUCH OF IT THOUGH...MAYBE 30 MINUTES...OR 30 SECONDS)!

I wish the show was on DVD, despite there are only eight actual episodes and several other episodes. It could include those episodes, TV spots and interviews (or commentary if interviews are unavailable).

I seen one and she sang fever and everyone says fever should only be sung by low blues voices but she does it the best!
It use to be on tv alot over here but i miss it cos i am at college:(

I saw all the episodes on Youtube, and I just loved it, and yeah it sucks it got canceled, but think about it, if it had become a big hit and run for like 3-4 seasons at least, then what would be of Wicked? I mean what would wicked be like without the awesomely talented adorable Kristin Chenoweth. I really loved the show, and would love to see a DVD for it, I mean if theres a dvd for things like Beavis and Butthead and Mission Hill, why can't there be one for Kristin, which is so much better than those shows.

reply

to the best of my knowledge she left the show becasue she was going on to do wicked. there was more eps but only 6 aired as they new then the show was over. best career move she made, but the show was good but the way they left it they should have just air them all.

reply

well, i dont know if this is true, but i heard that it was canceled because there was like a new president of NBC or something, and i guess he didnt like it that much and took it off. I dont know thats what i heard. but either way i thought it was good show. and even though there was only like 6 episodes i would want it on dvd and watch them all over and over again, cause they are good, and they are funny

reply

She does a good job with the song, but the best version I have ever heard is by Sara Ramirez (on the Late Show I think??)

reply

she's being herself, and she's amazing

<<Does anyone know why this show was cancelled?>>

In the television world; a measure of viewers is taken called "ratings"; most notably by the Nielsen company. These "ratings" are used by networks to help advertisers to determine if a) the advertisers want to buy commercial slots during that program for their product, and b) how much the networks can reasonably charge for said slots. This show got low "ratings", which means that the network would have trouble selling advertising time during the program. What this means is that not enough people watched the show to justify the network keeping it on the air, as paying for a show that gets low ratings is not something that any broadcaster can afford. I hope this was helpful.

Weirdoactor, theoretically you're right, but not really...

"Kristin" was basically canceled before it even aired. If memory serves, the person above who mentioned the network heads changing was correct. The series was supposed to begin airing early in 2001 as a mid-season show. Obviously NBC had no faith in it since they didn't begin airing it until after the season was over and the fall schedule had already been announced. (Little did any of us know that the coming season would be completely messed up by 9/11.) With very few exceptions, scripted shows that premiere over the summer are being "burned off," as in the network doesn't care about them and they're merely airing because they're unseen and paid for. Most of the time -- as was the case with "Kristin" -- these shows receive no promotion, get minuscule ratings and are yanked prematurely leaving episodes unaired. By airing a handful of episodes, the networks can claim that they gave the show a chance, but they didn't, and never had any intention of doing so. "Kristin" is far from an isolated case. All in all, it was for the best -- the show itself was pretty mediocre and its star went on to bigger and better things.

its becasue kristin went off to do Wicked and never came back....its a great show ans i am sure they are kicking themselves but hey we got Wicked!!

reply

If you check on youtube there are 12 episodes on there, it's not strictly true that Kristin went of to do Wicked, straight away - the show had already been cancelled by then, And they filmed 13 episodes in total.
This is what I gathered from Kristin's Autobiography which recently came out, she also mentions something about the pilot being on at Prime Time but by the 3rd episodes she didn't even know when it was going to be on.

I liked this series even if it's not great, I think it really improves as the series moves further on, and I love hearing Kristin sing. ;)
