Just shows what a pair of contacts can do...

A few weeks ago I had just come back from seeing 300 and was all revved up about Gerard Butler, whom I had never seen in anything before but immediately realised to be the sexiest man alive. The body, the power, the raw masculinity... *shiver* Anyway, I turned the telly on and while having a quick flick, happened to catch sight of Powers Booth in a toga. According to the tv guide it was a film about Attila, and although it was nearly over, being the avid Greek/ Roman history buff I am, I sat down to watch it.

A few moments later, who should come onto the screen but... THE most handsome man I have ever seen in my life. I mean I thought Gerard Butler was sexy in 300, but this man was stunning - those luminous cats eyes of his had me transfixed. As soon as it was over I scanned the credits to find out who he was, and what should I discover? The man I had just been about to move into the number one spot ahead of Gerard Butler was none other than GERARD BUTLER! I'd really had no idea this was the same man I had just been drooling over in 300, he looked so different. I came to the conclusion that its all about his eyes... those electric, hypnotic eyes that were hidden behind brown contacts in 300. I don't care how long Leonidas held the pass of Thermopylae for, Attila could have conquered the world with one blink of his baby blues if he'd looked like Gerard Butler.

Needless to say, I went straight out and bought the dvd so I could watch all 3 hours of him

Did you know he was The Phantom in ALW's The Phantom of the Opera? The man is multi-talented and quite a chameleon. And damn sexy to boot!

Considering how the lighting was in 300, it's an understandable mistake. Sometimes his eyes look grey. As you wrote, they're amazing.

So how do you explain them going from bright blue to dark brown in 300??? Sorry but if you can't see that was done artificially, you need contacts!

Winning!

Actually Gerry's eyes are not blue, but sort of grey/green/blue.

See here:http://www.mcheathers.com/eyes.htm

His eyes in "300" were affected by the blue/green screen filming and the colour palette used in post, making them look much darker.

And here he is as Attila:

holy crap you never knew about him before 300? He's been on my top ten hot list for years now. You must see Dear Frankie. That's about when I fell in love with him.... the dance scene, the kiss ! aiiiihhhh !

reply

His eyes are definitely his best feature. Acting wise, I mean, not just physically.

When I became a fan of his after Phantom, I recognized how 90% of his acting is in his eyes, but I noticed it again with 300. My fav part of the movie (if I can only pick one) is when he looks on Ephialtes (the hunchbacked traitor) at the end with such disdain, he says so much without opening his mouth.

Since this is a board for Attila, I'll also mention how much I LOVED the two parts in the film when he stares down two subordinates when they begin to question him. Even I was quivering in my boots!

I so badly want to see that movie (Dear Frankie). I never get a chance to look for it, though.

I should hunt my friend down and borrow it from her... UGHH!!! Or I'll never see it.

reply

Dear Frankie is a WONDERFUL movie, well worth hunting down your friend.

Have a look at him, Gerard Butler the one and only in The Jury. He is certainly the top actor out of all I have seen lately. Shattered is also very good. And then PS I love you. He plays soft sweet and beautifully romantic in this one with Hilary Swank. Chameleon..... No Kaleidescope. Touch him and its another pattern. What an Actor. and What a Man.. I'm Silver Surfer.

Nim's Island is a recent fun one that he is in. I think he was in the second Tomb Raider.

You must also see Dracula 2000; that's when I first noticed Gerard. He's also in Timeline and Reign of Fire and absolutely gorgeous in both.
