Tagging will never return

People keep talking about bringing tagging back into the tekken franchise, but it won't happen and in someways it can't. First off Dead or Alive got there first kind of. They put tagging in DOA2 and have not removed it, so it's kind of a feature of doa now. Namco would probably look like they were stealing it. Plus tekken finally stopped having infinite fighting arenas and introduced walls. No matter where you are in tekken tag, one character steps back the other steps forward. If your are against a solid wall, where can the tag partner enter from? To make tagging work they would have to bring back old infinite fighting areas, that would be regressive and a bit rubbish in my opinion. It would be nice as an unlockable feature in the next tekken, one thing I have changed in tekken tag is that you never see both partners on screen at the same time. One character hits, the other finishes the move off but never are both partners on screen beating the character up at the same time, would have bean fun. They could make move adjustments on christy and have eddy and christy as two seperate entities to be tag partners. But it will never happen.

Tell that bitch to be cool! Say,
bitch be cool! Say, bitch be cool!

It would not be trivial to have tag with walled arenas, but surely not impossible. They try and put in "new" features and change things up to justify new versions. Easier to stick in a tag mode than actually fix the core gameplay.

If they are really lazy, they can just make the tag mode only playable in infinite arenas.

Also, a lot of people regard Tekken Tag as the best Tekken, but not for the tag feature. It just felt nice to play, and didn't have the overwhelmingly irritating and ridiculous juggling as much as recent versions. Also it has great aesthetics, and a ton of characters.

Another point- being accused of stealing hasn't stopped them taking other stuff from rival franchises, and nor should it.
