Did Tommy kill Troy too?

How did he get Troy's car, did he steal it, did he kill Troy to get it? We don't know. Is there a cut scene in which we have the answer?

reply

I just listen to the director on the DVD and he said that there is a deleted scene which had Tommy murdering Troy. Hope that helps :o)

reply

I am glad they cut it. Killing Troy over a car just would´t fit the character of Tommy.

reply

-_-'......it wasn't because of the car you idoit :P it was because Tommy was affraid that Troy would go to the police with his hand and the police would force Tommy to stay,

reply

And because of shelly as well, he was jealous.

reply

Well, it still doesn´t fit his profile. Tommy kills "in reaction". He doesn´t plan it and he is unaware that he done it afterward. He doesn´t kill for jealosy or revenge. Being touched by women triggers hidden fear in him because he was sexually abused by his mother and that abusion in turn led to her gruesome death. That´s what makes him kill.

The film is not clear in that sense. In a way it implies Tommy was not a bad person, he just reacted from past traumas. But from the other side, he does manipulate Dr. Hunter by using the memory of his dead son, and that of course was premeditated. So maybe he is capable of planning a murder.

***Spoilers below (not sure that's necessary but)***

I respectfully disagree with misse1977. I don't believe he is unaware he's killed afterward. For example, his reaction to seeing on TV that the authorities found the girl he killed was NOT "unaware" but more like "oh sh*t, the authorities will now be after me and I'll never get to leave this place."

Therefore I agree with oso780. I did find Tommy using the memory of Kyle to manipulate Dr. Hunter was quite sinister and cruel. Not only did Dr. Hunter have old wounds over Kyle's suicide (as did everyone in his family - that was truly sad), I found it a GREAT scene when Dr. Hunter was talking to Tommy's father and said they weren't that different from each other.

Each had a son that was molested.

jabberttp - Remember, Michael (Andy Garcia) knew nothing of the molestation when he went to talk to Tommy's dad. Just thought I'd point that out. :)

He was refering to the fact that they both basically "killed" someone. Tommy's dad actually did it. Garcia would have done it, but had no access. But he did encourage that other doctor to kill himself. So in a sense, he kinda did.

and he also mentions that the only difference was that one of them got lucky, referring to how he (garcia) couldnt get a gun straight away due to the waiting period, meaning he couldnt murder the person who was harming his deceased son.

If there really was a scene in which Tommy killed Troy, I'm GLAD they cut it. Killing the girl at the rave was more than enough. Any more killing would be too much and too crazy.
