Ending

Ley Lines has one of the most beautiful endings to a film I have ever seen. It's so understated but its so poignant and, of course, it's visually stunning, much like the rest of the film.

Anyone else think that this more reserved, gentle ending tops the more famous, or perhaps infamous, Dead Or Alive ending?

I liked the ending as well, I thought it was fitting.I was pleasantly suprised with the whole movie, actually. It exceeded my expectations.

But now that I have seen Dead or Alive, I'm going to have to say DOA's ending is the best I have seen in a long time. I found Ley Lines and DOA to have a lot of similarities.

I liked the ending, but was a bit confused. Why are they both covered in blood in the boat? Were they hit by the bullets that were fired into the water? Is the implication that they're rowing away to their deaths? Or is it just ambiguous as to whether they survive or not?

Yeah, there is far more blood on them than just before, and there is blood in the bottom of the boat. They die, but are rowing away from their opressed lives in Japan. They are finally free, so making the ending sad but beautiful. It was the only way it could have ended really.
