...what is the difference between a "COMBAT", "OFFENSIVE", and "DEFENSIVE" oriented mercenary?
shareThose are the Act 2 mercenaries. They are Paladins. That refers to the "skill tree" each paladin uses. Actually, the merc uses only one skill, depending on the difficulty level. In my opinion, the pally mercenaries are generally (not always) the best. Once you find the right merc, keep the same merc with you the rest of the game.
