I CANT beep BEAT DURIEL!

I have tried like 20 times now and the most annoying thing is that I have to fight my way back to get to him. I am a level 21 Amazon and everytime I go in he freezes me so I can't do anything fast enough I had 10 rejuv potions the first time but I only last about 1/2 his life points by then I was out of potions my merc dies in like 5 seconds I've tried switching mercs and leveling them up...so I've wasted a good 50000 in gold ressurecting and buying new potions I cant get rejuvs because in act 2 you cant get regular heath potions that easy to make rejuvs in the horadric cube...i tried town portaling back and back but evnetually he freezes me so i cant get to the portal before he kills me...I've tried using my bow and spear all skills I have...how do I beat him HELP please!!!

Amazons are one of 2 classes I really dont play, but what I can tell you is that there are 2 ways to go about it.

1. Dont get hit by him. This means letting your mercenary tank him while you shoot him, and/or somehow stunning or freezing him and then doing lots of damage;
2. Tank him (or at least let him keep hitting you while you gulp potions). He is freezing you with his bash. He wont bash you if you are face to face with him.

The one thing you can NOT do with Duriel is run and shoot then let him hit you, rinse, repeat. That doesnt work. His bash is the only scary thing about him. Get up in his face completely or stay entirely out of his way. But as for amazons in particular, I dont really know.

This post is probably almost a year too late but hopefully sombody else can find my reply useful :) I played with a level 25 Paladin and got killed about 50 times without even getting close to killing Duriel until I succeeded using the town portalling method.

Basically once you are in his tomb, immediately create a town portal, get in a few hits and as soon as you start taking strain, down your potion and get the hell out of there. Secondly, always take a mercenary with you, although he gets killed quickly he will buy you a few seconds to create the tp and get in a few hits. Because Duriel doesn't regenerate health you will wear him down over time, I had to go back&forth about 10 times before i killed him.

Few other tips
- don't to try and run away to regenerate, he is faster than you and his bash attack will hurt you even more
- try a weapon that deals cold damage,although he is very cold resistant it will slow him down for a while and allow you to get in extra hits. Also use a weapon with very fast attack speed to make up for the fact that you will be freezed half the time. Some armor that increase your cold resistance will certainly make things easier.

yeah having a shield makes it easier too. Javelin amazon with a shield and nice elemental resistance is a monster. Never had an easier time beating that bastard than with a javelin amazon.

what i did was i ran until he got stuck on the other side and i just shoot him from the other side. i know that doesnt make sense but hopefully u will figure it out

Team up with people online. Everything's easy as *beep* that way.

Use cold weapons to slow him down. Make sure your merc also has cold weapons. It also occurs to me that a knockback weapon will keep him at a distance. Set a town portal as soon as you drop down in his lair. Try to avoid direct hits and be ready to run for the portal. Paladins holy freeze and thorns to return damage taken, Rogues cold arrow, Necromancers throw as many critters as you can at him then go make more, Sorcerers cold spells, Druids use spirits, wolves and bears, Barbarians have to tough it out but have lots of health to help, and I've never played an assassin so no tips there.

It will take time and patience and several trips to town but I've done it with every class except assassin. Multiplayer also has advantages in that if you're getting your butt kicked then someone else can distract him for you. However Multiplayer also makes baddies stronger.
