Poor Excuse for a Movie...

Low proudction value
bad direction
ridiculous dialogue

a film about a tennis match with shots so close as to cover both the actors' and the directors's inability to actually RECREATE the match is disrespectful to the King/Riggs story. Can you imagine TITANIC without the boat sinking?

I love Holly Hunter and have tremendous respect for Ron Silver, but their performances (perhaps due in part to the awful dialogue) are mediocre at best.

I'm sorry...
stay away from this. The best you can hope for to follow the King/Riggs story is a documentary with match footage, a la "When We Were Kings."

This movie was obviously "tongue-in-cheek", as was the original event itself.

Fred Willard as Howard Cosell? Come on!

You can never escape the haters, I guess. I enjoyed the film for the light-hearted romp that it was.

You are right about all the close-ups during the tennis matches, though. It was disappointing. They could've at least gotten some wide shots with stunt doubles or something.
