Just watched it. My thoughts
This movie was oddly intriguing, with its original, and believable dialogue, it was well worth the watch. The plot was a little secretive to me, and while some have said the love between the three sisters is evident, I can't entirely agree. If a film is a symbolic snapshot of the characters' lives, then I'd say these women were a poor support system for eachother. Certainly the youngest (adopted) sister was treated as little more than luggage until the McDonald's scene, when Keener's character finally paid some honest unpatronizing attention to her. I understand that the middle sister and mother were battling self-esteem issues, but I didn't understand how either one's issues were resolved. The eldest sister's journey I did not understand either. Between where she started and where she ended, I did not see her find a personal direction. In the end though, I do assume that all of the women learned to love and value eachother more than themselves, by the end of the movie.. and maybe that simple, and subtly delivered message was the only one intended. Just my opinion.
