Just watched it. My thoughts

This movie was oddly intriguing, with its original, and believable dialogue, it was well worth the watch. The plot was a little secretive to me, and while some have said the love between the three sisters is evident, I can't entirely agree. If a film is a symbolic snapshot of the characters' lives, then I'd say these women were a poor support system for eachother. Certainly the youngest (adopted) sister was treated as little more than luggage until the McDonald's scene, when Keener's character finally paid some honest unpatronizing attention to her. I understand that the middle sister and mother were battling self-esteem issues, but I didn't understand how either one's issues were resolved. The eldest sister's journey I did not understand either. Between where she started and where she ended, I did not see her find a personal direction. In the end though, I do assume that all of the women learned to love and value eachother more than themselves, by the end of the movie.. and maybe that simple, and subtly delivered message was the only one intended. Just my opinion.

Why do people always say just my opinion? Are you not entitled to your own opinion. Has the world gone so PC that you can't even make a statement without a disclaimer?

The film was about their relationships with each other and although they weren't the classic stereotypical family I do not see how they didn't love each other. Sisters can be competitive and all of the women were miserable in their lives. The middle sisters issues may or may not be resolved but she realized when she was bit by the dog that maybe she was going overboard. Then when the actor calls her she declines his invitation and despite her injury it seemed like she would have done the same thing. She was acting like a doormat and finally stood up for herself.

The oldest sister is now able to leave her depressing and deceiving marriage. She reflects on the mistakes she has made and will move on and really become an adult.

Maybe the mother will now appreciate what she has.

The older sister might be going to jail, and yet we see five minutes of that story. Flat ending.
