R Rating.....

What is the nudity? Male or female?

reply

It's full frontal female nudity. And it's not just a flash either, it's on screen for a long time. Probably a total of 40 or 50 seconds. It's a woman having her lover (really just her shortterm partner) evaluate her body. It's not gratuitous or overly sexual with the exception of his reference to her pubic hair. The language is pretty constant though.

It's not something I would worry about, though. It's done really beautifully.

reply

Well I don't agree with that. I think you definitely should worry if you're planning on taking your 12-year-old to see it.

reply

Why? Because the naked female body is so offensive and potentially damaging? No, wait, that sounds totally ridiculous. I think 12-year olds SHOULD watch this movie, they'd probably come away better for it.

Anton Chigurh is dead and Spider-Man 3 is superior in every way to Funny Games.

The human body, it's a weapon of Mass Destruction to childrens minds. Or you're a *beep* idiot.

It's an interesting question, as to whether this movie deserves an R rating for nudity or not. I mean, it certainly has a lot of female nudity. But this nudity is not really "sexual". Non-sexual nudity - I think this is a term that is used to explain why documentaries of naked indians (for instance) don't have to be R rated. The lengthy nude scene in this movie could perhaps also be classified as non-sexual nudity. Or could it? How would one distinguish between sexual and non-sexual nudity? And does this distinction even make sense?
