Ahead of it's time?

With the current popularity of Hatsune Miku, and recreating Tupac Shakur and Michael Jackson in hologram form, was the film S1mone ahead of its time?

Just watching it again recently, and seeing how the fans in the film were going nuts over a holographic actress, it made me wonder if we are seeing the same thing for real. Hatsune Miku is a holographic singer that is hugely popular in Japan and has a following in the United States. Michael Jackson, deceased, has now magically come back to life via holographic technology to perform new music.

It's possible that in only a matter of time, Hollywood could attempt what Victor Taransky does in the film, and tries to pass off a holographic actress as the real thing.

Anyway, after watching S1mone again, it almost feels as if she is the "mother" of holographic singer Hatsune Miku. I wonder if the creators of Hatsune Miku were inspired by the film S1mone in creating the vocaloid into what she is today.

Not just the holographic part...how she turns 'bad' (starts to smoke, look washed out, talks trash, etc) mirrored those stars of today - how they start innocent and go all rebellious (Bieber for one).

Life is like a beautiful melody, only the lyrics are messed up.

The inspiration for Hatsune Miku is probably Sharon Apple, from Macross Plus.

So now we have to ask ourselves: was S1m0ne in any way inspired by Sharon Apple?

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure you're not Hitler.

It's definitely overlooked, given recent times.
