Funny if you're from the south.

Most people who don't like this movie probably can't relate to it due to cultural differences.Being from Georgia, I see it not so much as spoof on reality shows, but a take on southern culture. This is definetly a funny movie to see if you are from the south. Each of the characters in the early parts of the film remind me of people I knew when I was growing up.

I completely agree. That's one of the reasons I enjoy David Cross' skits about the South. This movie is most likely a lot funnier to Southerners than it is to people from Boston, NYC, LA, and Chicago because sometimes you'll see people who really do look and sound like Dobbs and his friends. It's pretty sad, but it's the truth.

Eh, I'm from Minnesota and my friend from Chicago introduced me to this movie, and we both think it's hilarious. I thought it was obvious they were making fun of the south and did a fine job of it.

I had just bought this movie yesterday, haven't watched it yet but heard it was hilarious but was reluctant to rent it. I am from Texas and from this I hope it is good. The feautured review kinda scared me away haha but oh well it was $3

Always been the hugest fan of Mr. Show and Bob and David in nearly every other venture. I am from South Carolina and completely agree with OP. It's really sad the way people think that this is a stereotype, it's an all too real depiction of the sort of people I went to high school with. Never watched because I took Bob and David's word for it and just skipped it. I'm 30 minutes in and loving it. You can totally appreciate this movie despite the tampering of the studio execs.
David Koechner is the Harry Dean Stanton of '90s/'00s comedies. (referring to Ebert's Stanton/Walsh rule about how it can't be all bad if they're in it)

"I'm da principal!"
