WARNING! The worst movie ever!

Just don't watch it! Believe me, if your IQ is higher than 80, you will waste 86 minutes of your life.

Really, I liked Fubar, South park, and some other not "Rashomon"-alike movies :]
But this is just not worth seeing. And Nikki Cox in bikini was only a few seconds.

"This movie was held by New Line Cinema for 2 1/2 years after it was completed. It was never released theatrically and was finally released on DVD September 16th 2003." Now I know why....

reply

Are you serious? My IQ is 131 thank you very much and I loved this movie. It's one of my favorite comedy flicks of all time now. Oh, and when you say "waste 86 minutes of your life" is that to say that 1 minute of the movie is not a waste? Also, if the only reason you watched it was to see Nikki Cox in a bikini then I really feel sorry for your pathetic life.

reply

LOL man,
I've got higher IQ, but that's not the point.

I just want to say hat I find this movie totally stupid, not funny, carrying no deeper message and in-my-opinion tasteless (AND I don't think "Bizita Q" is tasteless). And I think, that such comment should be there along with some "great fun, watch it" comments...

What i find the worst in this movie is realising hte fact, that it was written to please people, who are so dumb, to take it seriously...

And "Oh, and when you say "waste 86 minutes of your life" is that to say that 1 minute of the movie is not a waste? " - you are aware of writing this only to be malicious?

And I don't think that you have any rights to make statements about my life. BTW "I really feel sorry for your pathetic life." sounds like retarded slogan to me... Period.

reply

Wow "man",

For someone with an IQ higher than 130, you sure don't write like it....

This movie, while not as funny as the show, is certainly not a waste of time. Not the best comedy of all-time by far, but not the worst either.

reply

let's argue about our iqs on a movie discussion form.

reply

Mine is 99, like Wayne Gretzky

reply

So Gretzky is average at something

reply

"LOL man,
I've got higher IQ, but that's not the point."

Higher than 131?

I fail in every aspect possible to actually believe in such a thing.

You start a thread by imposing on people what to watch and not to watch and stating that anyone who might enjoy this movie cannot be intelligence at all whilst your writing abilities, logic and understanding for humans and diversity amongst humans and their taste is flawed.

How can a person with high IQ be so ignorant and inane.

You're clearly nothing else than a troll.

reply

I think he meant higher than 80. But the whole IQ discussion is silly.

reply

for someone who supposedly has an IQ over 130 you sure seem to have alot of trouble forming a coherent sentence.

reply

lol. awesome quote

reply

Actually most people have no idea what "IQ" means or really designates. It is NOT a measure of how "smart" your are, what your intellectual abilities are, or how much you have learned.

It is a relatively crude measure of your capacity to learn and utilize information. It is not that accurate and is highly overrated.

One could have a high IQ number, and still not have the knowledge or ability to write well formed sentences.

FYI.

reply

That's besides the point, someone with an IQ of 130 should still be able to form a coherent sentence.

reply

I feel sorry for the people that come on these forums and post hate and aggression to those who like a movie that they did not.

reply

This seems to have devolved to a place for everyone to talk about how smart they are.

While I'm there, I have an IQ of around 140.

Heh heh.

reply

Really? Cuz I feel sorry for the people that come on these forums and post hate and aggression to those who did not like a movie that they did.

See how that worked out? probably not...

Amateur Ignatius Reillys.

Mr. Show was the funniest show of all time, rivaled only by Arrested D, and this movie was merely passable. That doesn't warrant the abuse it has been getting, but it seems like the people who are really bashing it aren't even the devoted fans who know how great it should have been, but casual, self-important "comedy savants" who confuse a commentary on idiocy as idiocy itself. The movie suffered from the same thing that the "Strangers With Candy" and other genre comedies suffer from which is a seemingly necessary attempt to usher in the new audience by retaping bits and events from the TV series, and along the way losing the magic that made them funny in the first place and causing the old school fans to groan. The main fault here is that the people who are really going to go out of their way to see a movie like this ARE the old school fans who don't want to be placated to, nor wait for the rest of the audience to catch up. In addition, Ronnie Dobbs was never one of the funnier bits on the show, and even as such, a movie version of Mr. Show should have been more like the show itself; diverse characters and concepts, full on irreverence and subvert, and brilliant links. The Kids in the Hall pulled all of these things together for "Brain Candy", and it is a shame that Bob and David could not do the same here. Though, I saw them in Boston on the "Hooray For America" tour, and though they referred to this movie as an "hour-and-a-half long *beep* they took three years ago, it seems most of the fault should be placed in the hands of Troy Miller, who after working with them for all four seasons on HBO banned them from the editing room, thus killing the legitimacy of the project. Que malo.

one of the greatest things to ever happen to me, was to be able to actually see this on the big screen when it was screened (was it ever released in theaters?).

greatest movie ever made

This movie sucks, if you like it then your opinion is wrong. I love Bob Odenkirk and David Cross and Mr. Show and Arrested Devlopment but this was just not funny, how can anyone not see that this movie just isn't funny.

reply

How can an opinion be wrong?

reply

it's nice seeing people arguing about who's the best, let the man express himself, and if u do not share his opinion let him know about that in a better way, or if he's acting like the thread starter, well.... then don't try to share your opinion at all...

reply

"My IQ is 131 thank you very much and I loved this movie."

You rascal, you stole my line! :-)

reply

I absolutely love this movie too. I'd love to see a show like this in real life.

reply

i just bought this movie and was a little disapointed. i was hoping for more of the "cops" style footage not just a montage.

i did like all the celebs and john and rebecca stamos little bit they had was very funny.

all in all im glad i own it, but then again, i got it for 8 bucks.

reply

carring no deeper message???????????? ???

Your an idiot, what happened to the entertainment industry

Ever piece of Entertainment does not need a message. If your IQ is low than I could understand not liking this movie. David And Bob are without a doubt the funniest people alive.

reply

I just find this movie absolutely not funny. IMHO many comedies are - like it or hate it - movies. For example I liked "Naked Gun" while I hate "Airplane!" and they are from the same directors AFAIK.
BTW let's take into consideration that there are IQ, EQ (it's about 'emotional intelligence') and few more 'Q's...

reply

[deleted]

I found this movie to be VERY funny and extremly underated. My IQ is about 135 and I still found it funny. You obvioulsy don't know what your talking about. But to each his own.

woof I am not sure I am qualified to comment on this movie seeing all the geniuses who have gifted this forum with their stellar critiques of this movie... ; )

Look, even David Cross thought this movie blew goats (check out his interview over at suicidegirls website). If you saw it and found it amusing then good for you, you were probably in the right mind set (puff, puff, pass). But for my video dollar there are definitely funnier things to see. I am still waiting for David Cross to be as funny on film as he is on "Arrested Development" and his comedy CD, (not withstanding his bitparts in MIB I & II.)

Nermal? Wait, is that Garfield the cat's cousin? Damn man you must be baked! ; )

reply

[deleted]

one should never base their opinion on someone elses. just because bob and david didnt like the FINAL CUT, does not mean that people cannot enjoy it. sure there are funnier movies, but who wants to want the same movies over and over forever?

reply

I'm not going to pretend that I have an IQ over 130 (so far as I know), but I will say that I know the difference between "your" and "you're".

reply

I was just going to say for all the high IQs getting thrown out, it looks like grammar and punctuation got thrown out the window.

reply

HAHA, very well put Muzakker, I have an I.Q of about 70, but that doesn't mean *beep* really, just some wanker who thought he could figure your Intelligence by asking some stupid questions about boxs and shapes, I loved this movie, thought it was hillarious, Mostly, I want my money back!

reply

IQ tests only measure a very spacific part of intelligence, not actually how smart a person is. IQ actually has very little to do with how smart a person is, only how good a sponge for information they are.

reply

neither IQ nor EQ have anything to do with enjoying a movie.

by the way, directors arent what make a movie funny. that's the writters and actors jobs. maybe you should learn a little about movies before you go claiming to have an opinion that means anything.

the funniest part about your "review" is that you dont state anything spacificly that was bad about the movie, showing us all that you dont even know what you're talking about. it also shows us, that you are a movie nazi. first of all, airplane was MUCH funnier than the naked gun. but funnier than them both was Top Secret.

also, a movie being stupid does not make it not funny. I think perhaps that you just have a very spacific sense of humor. dont come on here and claim to have an educated opinion when clearly you do not when you are totally unable to point out anything in your "review" that causes this movie to falter. if you want people to listen to you, make points, dont be a troll.

I don't think "Run, Ronnie, Run" is the worst movie ever (that title I leave to the stinking heap of celluloid that is "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation").

But man o man, Bob and Dave were right to disown this movie.

I love "Mr. Show" with all my heart. And I did laugh out loud at a few bits of this movie, most notably the Jack Black rooftop song and the Jeff Goldblum cameo. It wasn't all bad, but the editing and pacing were so terrible that the comedy just kind of got sucked into this black hole, never to re-emerge. Seriously, there weren't any genuine laughs for a good twenty to thirty minutes, not until Ronnie's first little chase through the trailer.

I did appreciate Dobbs' "Speak English, *beep* when being arrested by Quebecois officers. A taste of the movie that could have been, yet wasn't. Daaaaammmn!

reply

I have an IQ of 13,000, and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. My ability to make coherent, complete sentances and use correct grammar make me a film critic. At the same time, my immpecable spelling and punctuation make me the high emperor of moviedom, so you sir are incorrect. The intelligent truly are the only people able to judge a film's quality!!!

...but seriously, your high horse... you might want to get off it.

reply

This movie was great! Period!

"Hail to the King, Baby!"

reply

My IQ is in fact not measurable on the scale (it goes off the top by the way, not the bottom) and I still loved it. Not perfect but very different to most comedies. The reason the studio didn't release it is because of this very fact - major studios don't ever like releasing things that are at all 'different', especially when they make less than favourable comments about the media industry.

It's about time reality TV got a good slapping.

reply

miy iq is 54 and i thnk this moiev is hillarriouus.

... No, seriously, this movie is funny. I don't give a flying **** if David Cross didn't like this movie. I thought it was a funny parody of reality TV and the songs in the movie were brilliant!

reply

Put it this way... you either like the movie or you don't... you don't need to get upset about it and start a FOCUS group. If you don't like it, good for you, nobody likes to hear your bitching repeatedly.

reply

I don't care what they thought either. I like the movie. I thought it was funnier than Joe Dirt which is what it's been compared to by most of my friends.

reply

My girlfriend works at a video store. She gets free rentals and fortunately, she shares them with me. Now, I've seen many episodes of Mr. Show, and I love David Cross as Tobias on Arrested Development, so when I saw this film on the shelf, I didn't even think twice about getting it. I just knew it had to be funny. I couldn;t have been more wrong.

I think I chuckled a little maybe twice. The celebrity cameos were neat. But other than that, it was a waste of time. It brought a lot of funny people together, so I don't know if the problem was the script, the pacing, or something else, but it left me feeling a little cheated. It definitely didn't live up to my expectations.

But in response to the title of this thread, I must disagree. The title of worst movie ever would be a tossup between two movies: About Schmidt and Dr. T & the Women. They are both terrible and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

reply

the only problem that I found with this movie could have been solved with editing. which bob and david were unable to do themselves. personally I dont understand why they would be allowed to edit the show themselves, but then for the movie based on their show they have it taken away from them.

reply

i've never seen mr show but i thought run ronnie run was great. it's one of those weird movies that grows on you. the first time i saw it i thought it was pretty good, the second time it was great and the third time even funnier. i don't think it has anything to do with iq but more your taste in movies. anyway i find any movie that sends up america funny, but thats just me.

reply

[deleted]

well clearly your IQ is far below your recomended viewing range if you think this movie was supposed to be anything like Fubar or South Park. it's always interesting to come on these boards and see people compare movies that have little to nothing in common.

oh they're a comedy so that makes them exactly the same? no sorry sir, it does not. do you actually think movie studios dont release a movie because it's bad? how many bad movies have been released in the last year? it's about money, not quality. they didnt think run ronnie run would make money, so it never saw theaters.

you may not have liked this movie, but I could name at least 20 far worse movies right off the top of my head. the sad part is, you likely enjoyed a good number of them.

reply

[deleted]

that's correct that IQ doesnt have anything to do with humor, however, it has alot to do with reasoning. Im saying the original poster has a low IQ due to the simple fact that he was comparing 3 movies that are only similar in that they are comedy in general. though they are not at all similar in plot, style, or even the type of comedy they're being presented with.

if you're going to compare run ronnie run to anything it should be the kids in the hall movie. both take place in a seemingly realistic world, with very unrealistic people and events.
