Noyce's best film -

I've enjoyed Philip Noyce's work for a long while now, most of it anyways, and I really was pleased at how he handled the subject material here in adapting GG's book. He doesn't go for the obvious melodrama, and keeps things curious, interesting - you watch it unfold and await the next scene, just classic workhorse storytelling from an excellently written script. Bravo, Mr. Noyce -

I prefer Rabbit Proof Fence. Noyce does a much better job at bringing the characters to life. Perhaps the subject matter is closer to his heart.

I disliked Rabbit-Proof Fence. I’d say The Quiet American is easily his best, with Dead Calm and Clear & Present Danger the only others I have given a second thought too.

Found both films quite good. No need to put one over the other.
