in my opinion, pootie tang ranks among kentucky fried chicken, toxic avenger, and i'm gonna get you sucka as the best of the worst. you cannot approach a movie like this expecting barry lyndon. it's all about stupid fun. please...to think you'll see a piece of art when you approach a movie with a name like "pootie tang" makes you appear a goof...but if you want a good laugh while high, this is certainly it.

Perfectly put. That's is EXACTLY the kind of movie this is trying to be, and some cannot comprehend it. Not that someone is smarter for liking a certain movie, but when people don't seem to notice it's like that on purpose, it's hard to take their opinion on this movie too seriously.

If you got this movie, 90 minutes, some good friends who like laughing at light things, and some blunts...you got yourself a good time...

although now that you mention it, it does have some structural similarities with barry lyndon.

Man, I don't even know what a Barry Lyndons is, but Pootie Tang is art in its own right. Toxie is good bad, this is mad good bad. One could even claim it's great bad, or mad great bizzy bad. Maybe in 200 years they'll come up with a proper term for this, the genre just don't even exist yet. Seriously though, what the hell is a Barry Lyndons? Some kinna sandwich?

it's another movie, check it out on imdb. stanley kubrick flick.

Different genre.

The vital point to "getting" Pootie Tang is to be familiar with absurdism. The movie already sets this tone from the get-go, by having PT introduce a movie clip on a talkshow, which is actually the entire movie. Another typical absurdist segment is when Biggie Shortie and Bob Costas discuss the movie on the same talk show, during the extended clip shown on that talk show, while Biggie Shortie is still in character and even announces what she'll do next in the movie.

This movie is so intensely good, I can't even comprehend it.
