best film since 'citizien kane'

i love this movie - very complex story structure and a fine humor like Monty Pyhton's , a superb cast and pootie's acting is haunting and authentic...martin luther king would be proud of him.. Lance Crouther is the marlon brando of the new century

Well played, sir. Well played. This masterpiece of a film did for cinema what "Cowboys of Moo Mesa" did for the sitcom. That's right. It mastered it. Crouther's acting is poignant and spot on. The cinematogrophy is groundbreaking. Who knew so many African Americans could be in one frame without tampering up the lighting? Brilliance. Pure brilliance. If I knew that I was about to die, there would be one thing I would request before my departure...to once again feast my eyes upon the wonderous presence that is "Pootie Tang."

reply

What?Cowboys of Moo Mesa was a Saturday Morning cartoon much like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It certainly wasn't a sitcom. So are you saying that Pootie T isn't a film?I think it is,young Sir and a very good one at that!

"They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time, it works every time."

reply

Don't be daft. Of course Pootie TANG is a film. Honestly you're just some ruddy snot-nosed git who likes to play on he's mum's computer, eh? Unlike you I know all about cinema. I live cinema. I breathe cinema. I piss cinema. So piss off.

reply

I most certainly am not daft. You implied that Pootie T (for short, obviously you are not that great of a PT fan if you don't even know that)is not cinema because you said "This masterpiece of a film did for cinema what "Cowboys of Moo Mesa" did for the sitcom." No, Pootie T did NOT do in cinema what "Cowboys of Moo Mesa" did in sitcom, because CBOMM wasn't a sitcom. So you are implying that it is not a film.By the way, you need to get your British terminology right because eh is most common in Canada and Australia.Pick one and go with it.

reply

Bloody hell. Do you have your knickers in a twist or what. You ARE daft. What on earth would be the point in calling the film "Pootie T" when you are only leaving out 3 of the bloody letters? Isnt' that pointless? That's like abbreviating the month of May. You are a daft child playing on your mum's computer. Grow up, loser. And of course I think I would know my OWN terminology..being as I am from there and all.

If you've ever needed proof that corny and poopy don't mix, well there you go.

reply

Indeed, chaosmind. It has been scientifically proven by a group of 5th-grade educated social workers that corn and poop do not mix. In fact, it mixes about as well as oil paint and water, bleach and red socks, snot and tartar sauce, and peanut butter and jelly. It just doesn't make bloody sense!

Pootie Tang signifies what it is to be a film. Such acting, such direction. its as if some one asked God what would make a great fil;m and his lips utter "Pootie Tang". shear wonderment takes hold when i watch this masterpeice. WONDERMENT DAMN-IT!!!

ole12345, Corny, ProfPoop, fro,

I see where you're going with this. My wife has played this out since we first saw it in 2001. Endlessly comparing every movie we see to PT. At first, I thought she was joking with me. I mean, good movie sure - but BEST MOVIE EVER, I mean it's Louis C.K., ... Please. She shows this movie to people at any occasion and after 6 years is still pushing this movie.
EVERY friggin' movie we see ends up with a 20 minute point by point analysis of how this movie holds up against the Tang.
I am still not sure if I really understand the film at all. Sada tay.

Funny ... yes, but, ahem ... better than CK ... I think not.

Loved it ... Wanda Sykes absolutely rules ... as does Chris Rock.

Great Fun!!

I thank this thread for giving me the name of that cartoon I liked as a kid but couldn't identify, Cowboys of Moo Mesa!!!

reply

At least Wanda is funny, unlike Margaret Cho....

Just watched this as my mate bought it for £3 in the bargain bin! Best £3 anyone could ever spend!

Great laugh!

I think the only similarity between those women is the fact that they are comedians. I don't see much similarity of style or even substance. Personally I think Wanda was awesome in 'Pootie' but after seeing her a bunch in 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' and other places, I don't see a lot of dynamics to her character-- she does the same thing all the time. Does it well, but her material/character already seems stale to me. I'd rather see a comic do something great every now and then (which I think Margaret Cho absolutely does, whenever she tours) than do the same thing all the time for maximum visibility. Margaret's been on the scene longer though, so I suppose Wanda's got some fame-hungries to work out of her system. She's finally made the breakthrough of making 'controversial' headlines with her personal life; after she's been through the spirit-breaking part of fame, she might become interesting again, once she's not in the spotlight anymore.

So in short, you are wrong in three ways. A) Comparing female comedians who are dissimilar. B) Not recognizing the brilliance and depth of Margaret Cho. C) Trailing your one line off with three dots, and then adding a link for YOUR imdb page, which has NOTHING to do with ANYTHING being discussed here. I know you want to promote yourself but this way seems a little obnoxious and makes me think whatever you're in probably sucks. Sorry. You real friends will be honest with you, and so will vicious serpents like myself. lol.

reply

How the hell can you compare Pootie tang to citizen kane, pootie tang is the worst film ive seen in all my life and it trys to rip off lock stock and two smoking barrels on so many levels its un believable

reply

What comparisons exist between lock, stock and pootie tang? that makes no sense at all. and how can you deny the simple brilliance of pootie tang? sa da tay!

reply

yeah it actually makes way more sense to compare Pootie Tang to Citizen Kane than say that PT ripped off Lock Stock...

Even the most primitive society has an innate respect for the insane.

This thread has the most consistently funny responses I have ever seen on any page relating to a movie, and THAT is no joke. The funniest thing is how much I 'agree' with all of it!
