In this exchange between Sasayama and Toguchi, why the hell does Sasayama question the authenticity of Toguchi's statement, when he (Sasayama) witnessed Toguchi perform brutal self harm on himself?

Without seeing Toguchi's left eye, Sasayama has no way of being absolutely sure that Toguchi is a barcoder. Toguchi refers to himself as a "subcontractor" for Gakuso Group, but never really admits that he is part of the P-Net project.
