Awful!!!!

...because Frollo's not in it and he's so HOT!!!!!

Frollo was certainly the most complex animated disney villain. He had such depth, such weakness. His song in the first one was brilliant.

reply

How could they replace the best Disney villain with that one-dimensional jerk Sarouche! Curse you, Mr. Eisner!!

Dude, how about it was an awful movie because it was the worst quality of Disney animation I have ever seen! And ESPECIALLY after having seen and loved the incredibly spectacular original! In this one, there was no depth in color, no shadowing, no attempts to make the town look almost 3D, crappy songs... basically the whole thing sucked balls. I agree with what most of you said about Frollo being one of the best Disney villains, but like was mentioned by someone else, he died in the first one, and I believe they would have just butchered the character had he been in the second, just like they butchered everything else. Seriously, watch even just the trailer for the first Hunchback and then watch the sequel, and I'm sure a little part of you will die inside at the audacity Disney Studios had to make such an insult to Walt Disney himself.

reply

It was a pathetic attempt,...but the plot it self was OK.....but they really need to start drawing their movies again...not completely computer animated like it is now.

reply

This movie just plain sucked. The only thing I actually found funny was Phoebus talking to Achilles about rhetorical questions. Other than that, I was like "That's IT? No burning of cities?" The plot was beyond weak, and the characters annoying. My major dissapointment was Esmeralda's bit part, as she's my all-time favorite disney heroine (well, her and Meg are pretty close). Disney should be ashamed of this. And don't even get me started on the animation. What a joke!

reply

You're right I agree with the Esmerelda thing on so many levels she had a huge amount of depth in the first one and in the sequel she's BORING! I swear she had no good lines! And look at her she doesn't look like a mom. Speaking of the kid oh damn he was so annoying! I hate him almost as much as that kid from the Mummy 2. God he was almost the same kid as that annoying kid in the Mummy 2. Quasi was sorta off here too. Phoebus was extremely off too. It's hard to name one character not off.

I watched the first movie for the first time in years the other day and I was amazed at the beauty of it and just how powerful the whole movie was compared to the typical Disney movie and decided to watch the sequel just to see if it even measured up.

I wasn't surprised.

I couldn't believe how loosely it was put together. The animation was just sad (I know they tried to make La Fidel look all beautiful in the opening scene but...ugh). I was surprised they got all those stars to come back (how many lines did Demi Moore have? Five?). But the story was typical. I think Quasi was fine without some "tomboy" (Jennifer Love Hewitt described Madelaine as a tomboy! Yeah right!). The characters were all suddenly very 2-D (metaphorically speaking) and lacked the depth they all had in the first movie. The jokes were weak and didn't get the laughs they were intended to.

Overall the movie was just horrible. I kind of wish I hadn't watched it...but it's too late now.

I remember watching the commercials on TV for this movie when it first came out and shuddering violently.

I shudder still at the thought.

reply

I think it was a great love story, the songs could have used a little work, however I liked the whole idea of Quasi finding love.
And this story was not about Esmeralda it was about a little boy being eat'n but gargoyals.... Nope thats not it either....
Its about Quasi finding love and beign happy.
Sure the animation was bad. However if you ignore the animation and focus on story line. Your sure to committ suicide sooner or later.
Kidding
I liked it and thats my oppinion.
later all.

In my opinion, the first movie's scale was higher than "2"
But, 2 was also fun to watch ^^

Simply the WORST MOVIE I have EVER seen.

Supermodels...spoiled stupid little stick figures mit poofy lips who sink only about zemselves.

reply

I think this is a cheap but a funny movie, Sarouche is the coolest villain ever!

reply

I have to agree with you, I'm just happy that Quasimodo got to fall in love with someone that loved him back. That's all I care about, I don't care about the fact that everything else about the movie sucked. I'm happy he found love too.

reply

I thought this film had real potential if, big if here, the animation had been uptio scratch with the first and if there had been a real villain. They had the original voice cast except David Ogden Stiers. If only they had good animation....*sighs* ah well :(

reply

This movie was on Toon Disney yesterday or the day before. (I didn't see it, however.) My friends are suckers for Disney Sequels. That's because we sit through them and do our own commentaries on them. It makes it such more enjoyable.

On the whole I hate Disney sequels; loved the first movie. The verdict? This movie is going to be bad.

I feel ashamed for Kevin Kline and Tom Hulce. Really, it's horrible that they had to come back and do this terrible movie--just because Quasimodo didn't get a chick? And Esmerelda has a bit part? At least I'm happy they got the cast back...

I saw the sheet music to this in the store the other day. They REALLY released sheet music to it? The "Fa La la Falling in Love" is simply horrible.

I hated this movie. The sequels are always terrible but this was the worst!

The first movie was amazing because it had serious characters with serious depth. It was great because it explored religion and really had a meaning. I loved the first movie it'll always be one of my favourite disney movies.

But the second was terrible. I thought it was nice that Quasi found love but it was too....i dunno. I suppose that's ALL that's in the Disney films as though they think nothing else can happen so the make another love story. I mean i love the disney films they're amazing but you would have thought they could do something else for once. I think that's why i loved the first one so much. The main-main character didn't get their love for once and it was good to see they could still be happy.

You are never going to get them spending that amount of time and money on a film that is going straight to video.

That said I thought it was a good film as far as the sequals go.

reply

i only liked this movie because of the plot, songs, and because Jennifer Love Hewitt played in it. i also like Zephyr. he reminds me of my nephew. the animation was kinda sucky, like it was sucky in Tarzan and Jane. there's a preview for it before teh movie and the animation for that sucked, too. as always, the relationship between Phoebus and Achilles was funny, because in the first movie, Achilles acted like a dog, w/ the tricks, and in the second, Achilles is kinda like a person, especially with the rhetorical questions.

Frollo is my fav disney villian, he isnt just plain evil like the others, he has depth. different layers of emotion and character. but i think that would have been a BAD move to bring him to the second one. I hated the second one. BUT i admire disney for getting the ORIGINAL VOICES. I cant tell you how many sequels that would have done soooooo much better if they had just gotten the original cast!!!!!!

remember, some disney sequels couldn't have the original cast. like Lady and the Tramp, Bambi, Cinderella, and the Jungle Book. there were just too many years between teh first and second movies to be able to use the original cast.

I just got this movie. Obviously I knew it wasn't going to be nearly as good as Hunchback 1... the animation wasn't nearly as good, and the characters were extremely off, but whatever. I still enjoyed it, probably because he finally found true love or whatever, and that was cute. I did miss Frollo though... Frollo truly is coolest villain ever... and Esmerelda's character was pretty rubbish. But never mind. I liked it.

That's really well said. as the song goes "he saw corruption everywhere, except for within"
It's none of the TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!! kinda crap.

Also have you heard they're doing like sequals to all the great Disney movies? Can you believe that?! As if half of their sequals haven't been a disaster, they have to ruin the great Disney classics too!

By far one of my favourite lines from the book :D

I thought the idea was okay, and it might have been really good, but it was like no one even put an effort into it...the movie was ghastly! Terrible animation, pathetic music, cheesy dialogue, and so little depth! Oh dear, that was harsh, but I really couldn't stand it. I liked that Quasi and the little boy were best friends (Haley's a bundle of light). I just didn't like the movie.

The first one was incrediable! Yes, different from Hugo's...but so many movies are from their own...that doesn't mean it's degrating to the original story. It's not the letter of film, but the spirit that counts, and this one's spirit was amazing!
