It isn't very likely that a big city, successful, beautiful female lawyer would be married to a murderous psychotic Marine enlisted man.

She wasn't. She was married to a nice, good looking carpenter (?). She had no clue who he really was.

It isn't very likely that a big city, successful, beautiful female lawyer would be married to a murderous psychotic Marine enlisted man.

Its very possible for a psychotic person to be smarter than a lawyer, so it comes as no surprise that she was duped into loving him.
Plus a lot of people are duped by love anyway, regardless of whether they are professionally successful or not.
As for being 'beautiful', well I don't see the relevance, as what value does beauty have? Some of the dumbest people of all-time are physically beautiful.
