was Ellie lying about the photo frame?

She was lying, yes, mainly because she thought he was being ridiculous and that it would make him stop with the werewolf theories. She told him that the frame was sterling silver, but in a later scene, he picks up the frame and sees a sticker on the back that reads, "STAINLESS STEEL." He then realizes that she lied about it being real silver.

Of course she was lying. Why is this even up for debate? She could obviously read the Stainless Steel label on the back of the frame.
