Raise the Red Lantern Reference

The IMDb page says that this movie references the 1991 Hong Kong film "Raise the Red Lantern." I recently saw the film and was curious - does anyone know how it is referenced? From my perspective I didn't see any direct cinematic references but would love to know what it is. Thanks!

This is old but the red lanterns in the hot tub scene did remind me of that movie. I wouldn't say it was a reference though as those types of lanterns are pretty common.
