So when did this show start going down hill?

Was it after season 5 when Nick left?

In my opinion, your opinion sucks.

That's up to your opinion. I loved watching the show until after season 7. I hated season 8.

Ha ha, Thatch, very good. Yeah for my sins I agree with the OP, I loved Nick. He was very off the wall without being offensive in any way, and he always had a smile, even when Ben was nasty to him, which was a lot of the time!

If it's a boy, do you think it will look like Rodney? It doesn't matter as long as it's healthy!

reply

Lost a bit of edge when the eldest son left.

Its that man again!!

Around the end of Series 3, when Susan went from being snarky to a hateful, cackling witch. Nick and Abby were the only genuinely nice people, but Susan was just awful.

reply

Nick was the only reason why I watched the show, after he left the show it became boring and unfunny and so sooner or later I stopped watching the show.

they had a best of at the end of the last episode nearly the entire thing had Nick in it so yea as soon as he left it turned to rubbish

reply

The show had two declines. It dropped to merely watchable after series 3, and then dropped to abysmal after series 8.

"Gizza job! I can do that!"

reply

I felt the show still worked for a while after Nick left, but there was definitely a drop in quality somewhere around Series 8 or 9, however when the show reached it's 10th series, the bottom fell out of it and should've realised it was time to stop, but because it didn't we ended up with the entirely redundant Series 11.

I liked every episode of the first 2 series apart from get Cartier. It was series 3 and onwards where I started to dislike the show.

The trouble when Nick left was the focus on Abi and Roger and them getting together as a couple. Abi was not funny at all - not the actress' fault but there's fine line between sitcom stupid and severe learning difficulties which they crossed with her and Roger was only funny in terms of Ben's reaction to him.

Ironically, it got funnier when a lot of the focus returned to Janey after Abi left and Roger's role was downgraded.

rewatching some of the episodes on gold and have to agree for the most part. also alfie was the biggest waste of time. he was only funny in the episode where ben's friend charlie visits and alfie thinks she's all woman. apart from that, useless. i get the point of needing to replace the idiot role but maybe roger was the best one after nick
