Hughie lost due to Xenophobia of the British public because he is Irish

I wanted Hughie to win BUT as soon as I realized that people from the Republic of Ireland CANNOT VOTE despite an Irish contestant. I know British people are going to say well Big Brother UK is a British show. BUT it is not fair to Hughie as an Irishman that his people from the Republic of Ireland could NOT VOTE FOR HIM! I read many tweets from Irish people on twitter fuming that they could not vote for him. being on the show should of known he was not going to win. So an Irish man can be a contestant on Big Brother BUT people from the Republic of Ireland CANNOT VOTE for him! This is the same BS Dami Im the Australian woman who got second place on Eurovision did not win because she is Australian and not European! People say the British people are humble but there is definitely subtle prejudices and xenophobia bubbling under the surface. If Hughie was BRITISH and NOT IRISH he would won of won for the sure! The Big Brother producers are not going to release the final voting numbers will they. The show and the British public made sure a British person won not a foreigner.

reply

If Hughie was BRITISH and NOT IRISH he would won of won for the sure.
You do realise that a GAY IRISHMAN has won BB before...

Oh! And there was Nadia Almada. Look her up...

Oh. Wait! And Shilpa Shetty (CBB).

...and then of course there was also Gary Busey (CBB).

EDIT: Xenophobia. Really?

ELPHABA: Eleka Nahmen Nahmen Ah Tum Ah Tum Eleka Nahmen.

reply

Well this was pretty close I still stand by my argument the IRISH people SHOULD of been allowed to vote. The final count was VERY CLOSE. You cannot discriminate against foreigners by saying they can BE on the show BUT their countryman CANNOT VOTE for them! That is *beep* and needs to change!

reply

WOW!! So BBuk has been the best thing since slice bread for the whole series and then when the person who is your personal favourite doesn't win, you attack us!! Seriously get your head out of your arse!!

If that was the case how did Evelyn get so far, she's not even from the same continent as us!! Wtaf!

It was nothing to do with where he was from or his sexual orientation (Brian Dowling, BB winner and Ultimate BB winner!)

reply

I like the show I just do no like the BIAS and favoritism of the show. Irish people from the Republic of Ireland SHOULD be allowed to vote for Hughie since he is Irish! I read MANY tweets from Irish Big Brother fans who were VERY ANGRY that they could NOT vote for their countryman. You can spin it anyway you want BUT when the voting is very close it made a difference. The Irish people from the Republic of Ireland SHOULD of gotten the opportunity to vote for Hughie and that is it!

reply

Do Americans get to vote on Canadian BB and vice versa? Republic of Ireland is just that a separate country, just like Australia is. So should Aussies be allowed to vote for Evelyn? This competion rule applies throughout the UK for all competitions simple really!

reply

The rules need to change IF a show allows foreigners on the program then their countrymen should be allowed to VOTE FOR THEM! It is the fair thing to do. To deny Irish people to vote for Hughie is a huge bias and totally unfair. Hughie I hope continues in the show biz he has a huge personality.

reply

I think if it's televised in a country, then they should be allowed to vote from there, of course. But is it even viewed in ROI??

reply

Yes of course Big Brother is televised in Ireland. Many Irish people in the Republic wanted to vote for Hughie.

reply

Whoa, then they should have definitely been allowed to vote!

I don't think it's xenophobia, though. There must be some legal implications from Ireland's side, I assume 

reply

ROI is a separate country to the UK, just like Evelyn's home land (Australia) is I do not see people going mental about not being able to vote for Evelyn from Australia! Come on seriously, it sounds like sore loser tactics to me.

ROI are not part of the U.K, how hard is that to comprehend, they have their own football team, their own Eurovision entry, they have a different currency. THEY ARE THEIR OWN COUNTRY ie NOT THE UK!! How many times!

reply

Oh yeah I just saw your comment about America's Got Talent so that makes sense! You're right.

reply

But again you're not answering my question!
Why do people do that, just answer the friggin question!!
Gaming rules apply throughout every country, we get to watch Americas Got Talent, but we're not allowed to vote on it, no big deal, until your favourite doesn't win!

reply

At least ONE Irish person has won it before (Brian Dowling) so that ruins your theory, straight away...

I'm less concerned with how Hughie lost, and more concerned about how Jason WON, given that he's a sneak with a bad temper... but Helen Wood has won it before, so there is a precedent for not very nice people going all the way!

"Your mother puts license plates in your underwear? How do you sit?!"

reply

The OP's posts are the funniest thing ever.
I like reading his BS ... it's kinda like reading the hatred from Blanc Naturals on the CBB one. Hahaha.

I wanted hughie to win, but oh well ... he didn't.
The OP knows nothing about us British or UK Big Brother.

reply

Oh I can't wait for the hate and nasty comments ... It starts again on Thursday lol :-)

reply

Haha! Ooh I can't wait ;) ... he proper loves giving me crap. Wonder who's going to be my pimp this time! Looking forward to it ;) will see you guys on the CBB board for sure :D

reply

Bottom line. It's not a case of voting because of where someone is from, it's voting for who deserves to win. And lets be honest, BB is hardly a showcase for human excellence is it? Usually 95%+ of housemates prove that.

If it was going to be fixed, do you think Jason was the obvious one for BB to pick as winner? Nope, it would have been Andy or Jayne or even Jackson. Hughie didn't win because of Charlie and her vile outburst. That's why Jason won and no other reason.

reply

That was my way of thinking, because she was such a vile disgrace when she re-entered the house. People then felt really sorry for Jason.
I've always been team Jason, I can spot a bunny boiler a mile off and Charlie is one of the worst. Disgusting piece of work. I hope he takes his 90k and his dog and runs for the hills!

reply

Do you believe she kicked his Dog? I do. F^ck!n scummy Bint.

Even the way she was talking about that dog was getting on my nerves, it's such a nasty way to act just because you think a Dog is Ugly.

reply

Yes I totally believe everything Jason said about her, I think she's vile and very self obsessed!

reply

Oh pull yourself together. Don't you think there are slightly more pressing matters to worry about in the world right now? You're talking about a reality show, it's meaningless. There's actually been some quite interesting and important Anglo/Irish conflicts throughout history, yes even BEFORE Big Brother.

And what difference does it make if Hughie won or lost? What Big Brother winner has become so famous that their legend will live forever? I don't think the scientists of the future will find monuments to Anthony Hutton when they're excavating the remains of our civilisation.

reply

And in the midst of world events and tragedy, we find relief in mindless rubbish that is so bad it's addictive. Then we catch up on soaps maybe. You have to remember that one persons entertainment is just that. I'm confident that everyone on this board is more than aware of everything about this show's crassness, that it will not cure cancer, improve the planet or enrich humans or our behaviours. But then again neither does One Direction or James bond or The Queen even.

Yet you looked up this message board. For what?

reply

... Er, because of the reasons you just listed maybe? I don't have a problem with losing oneself in mindless rubbish like this, I just think the OP is taking it all far too seriously. Surely you agree with that? He sounds genuinely shocked and appalled.

reply

Yes I agree with that. To get on a high horse over being in the wrong country to vote is hardly worth thought let alone a rant ;-) I maybe read yours wrong, thinking you were stating that BB was not worthy enough to be of interest or comment. It's not, at least in any serious way.

reply

Can I say what absolute RUBBISH this is. What on earth makes you believe that all people would even vote for Hughie? I'm Irish and would have voted for Andy, because he is the only one in there with half a brain. Hughie is very primitive and aggressive. Not to mention that an Irish person won the first Big Brother and won the overall Big Brother also. Get a *beep* grip!

reply

British people can't vote on Irish shows.
Jade Goody didn't win but became really famous.
