AK-47s ... hahah. Also, another goof?

At the press conference after the team foils the attempt by Alex's henchmen to take him from the pulled-over bus, Captain Fuller says something about how the attackers had AK-47s. This is among the dumbest parts in a movie full of them. Did he say this just to sensationalize what took place? To refresh the memory of anyone who may not have recently seen this movie, neither of the attackers had an AK-47. The one who was killed first had maybe a semi-automatic (maybe a TEC-9?), and the one with the shaved head (the same guy who picked Alex up from the airport) had a silenced pistol.

I wonder if what Fuller said to the media was an attempt at sensationalizing the attack. Has to be, right? It would be a seriously awful continuity/editing error, if not - there isn't an AK-47 in that attack scene, period. There may have been some in later scenes (when the gangsters from around the city attempt to ambush the caravan and take Alex from the S.W.A.T. truck), but there were none in the two-man bus mission. There were a bunch of witnesses to what happened there, and no one bothered to correct him when he mentioned AK-47s. It's a total lie or Fuller is just a complete moron.

This movie is so bad while also being slightly entertaining.

Also, isn't T.J. hit by a paintball in the training exercise on the plane? The officer who hit him couldn't point out to Fuller/etc. that he hit T.J.? From what I remember, it was a point-blank shot. The shooter would have to be blind to not be able to tell that he hit someone with that shot. It seemed that the team would get credit for passing the mission only if none of them got hit, but T.J. clearly did. The officer who shot him could've pointed it out, and T.J. somehow was able to hide it from everyone as he exited the plane/walked around afterwards?

Hahah ... whatever. Thankfully, no major sequels/etc. came from this movie. If you have a working brain/intellect then you have to question the authenticity/accuracy/legitimacy of the majority of its scenes.

Is this in reference to the ambush on the L.A.P.D. convoy scene? If so then looks like they are using AKM and AKMS assault rifles and Ruger AC556Ks.

Probably not too much of a stretch to simplify to AK-47 for the audience.

The press conference is after the two men attack the bus of prisoners and try to rescue Alex. Neither attacker appeared to have anything close to an AK-47. The one who boards the bus to lead Alex to the getaway vehicle shoots the officers on the bus with a silenced pistol, I'm 99% sure ... the one who is keeping watch outside (the first to be killed when S.W.A.T. arrives) has a TEC. (See that entry at the link you provided.) Actually, the Beretta entry at that link shows the silenced pistol I was referring to. So, basically, neither attacker had an AK-47, but it was referenced in the press conference. It's clear in the images at that link that neither man used an AK-47. I'm glad you shared that link - thank you! The proof is right there.

Pretty significant continuity error, or the captain was totally blowing this out of proportion/sensationalizing the attack.

Fair enough too! I haven't seen the film in it's entirety for some time. Continuity errors can certainly be pretty sloppy and annoying. Worse (for me) than misidentifying weapons is weapons that never seem to run out of ammunition and people are never seen re-loading etc.

Highly recommend having a poke around imfdb, can spend days on there.
