In interviews, Trent Harris claims to not understand the interest in this movie. He also claims that the movie isn't an obsessive therapeutic apology project for nearly driving a young cross-dresser to suicide.

I would have to say that considering the fact that Gary went to Sundance and was loved by the crowd and the fact that Trent is in touch with Gary's sister you could also see it as he didn't want to make a spectacle out of his funeral, which is more likely the case, as Trent has said so himself. Rather than attempting to find drama where there is none, it would be better if you tried to understand that humans are complicated and multi layered, not nearly as easy to read as you have tried to.
