Not a series? I don't intend upon reading the manga as I don't as a rule, I'm really only interested in the anime, I may one day take up manga but there's many more I'll read before this. With that in mind I specifically prefer anime films to series is this a film and if so, can it be watched without the series or manga and still make sense and still feel complete or would I be doing it too much of a disservice?

what kinda rule is that? read the manga.

and this is a miniseries. the manga is more extensive, and i'm sure you will get into it after finishing this series. it's an emotionally, enchanting one. the best, really.

and the author of the manga, last i've heard of her, is continuing the series, with the characters all grown up.
