The biggest mistake this movie made

I'm not talking about the company itself here, I'm talking about the movie.

I think the biggest mistake they made in the filming of this movie is that they focused way too much on the two business partners and the business aspect itself. They didn't include much of the technology aspect of it at all, which was one of the major downfalls of the company too from what I could see. In fact, they showed a scene where they were demeaning to a system administrator. Bad move. Who did they think was most likely to watch this film? Probably a lot of technology people right?

Actually, the fact that the two main guys downplayed the technology aspect is probably very telling of the failure of a lot of tech companies. I doubt they were trying to show that though.

It's a tough call to be so technical. Speaking as a techie myself, it would have been nice but after all they are trying to sell the movie and probably didn't want to alient the majority of the viewing public who are not technical. The DVD commentary explains how the tech stuff is just not "sexy" enough for most people, and to be honest I know the tech side, I know how frustrating and laborious it is and I'm kind of glad they focused on the the other end. I was fascinated by the fact they were able to raise so much money with essentially nothing and basically just repeating 600 billion dollar market place over and over.

I think e-dreams is better than this one. Startup.com focuses too much into personal relationships, too little on big picture, thre are practicly no intervievs where like ceo is telling what is happening right now. Startup.com is in different style, its like fly on the wall, but that is not very efficent style to tell a story about major flaws of the company. Its hard to create big picture from some random discussions. I think idea behind startup.com sounds lot better than one in e-dreams but it seems like gOWORKS didnt have any highpoint, they just collapsed instantly, no succes at any point of the prosess.

No success? They raised millions of dollars, had hundreds of employees and at one time they were talking with the president of the united states. Granted the company did fall big time but they had some success before its fall.

Its not show in front of lens. Not so much a story about the company as it is about people.

The poster I responded to said this documentary showed this company fail immediately, I am saying I disagree because it showed them having success at the beginning. How they went from concept with a couple of people to a full blown product with 200 employees and millions of dollars in investment. All of this showed in this documentary.
