Where did the dead nessie come from?

I've seen this film dozens of times, but i can't remember if they explained where the smaller, Plesiosaur-like Nessie that washed up on the shore came from, I know the killer Nessie came from the crack in the sea cliff made during the seaquake that killed Gus, so where did the other come from?

Maybe it was already there.

I think that creature was suppose to be Nessie. The other creature came through the crack when the earthquake happened and eventually killed Nessie.

Seeing the movie for the first time on the Sci-Fi Channel on 5-3-08, I had the same question.

I wonder if it was from one of the eggs.

It was Nessie. The gigantic creature came up through the crack and killed Nessie (The creature that was up on shore). It was already there.

It came from "the dead Nessie department"; so obvious.
