I really enjoyed it. not as a comedy, not as a horror, i dont think its a masterpiece or anything, just a good film. and i know, the accents were poorly done, there were a few scenes that were a bit corny, etc etc, but i just feel like everyone hates this movie and im the only person that liked it at all, heh.
no; i liked it, and i live RIGHT by loch ness. I'm just above urquhart castle, and i was happy to see a film there that was actually filmed there. i thought it was good, because it relies more on storyline than effects. Sure, the accents are lousy, but I got used to them quite quickly
I seen it yesterday afternoon, borrowed a relative's DVD.While it was by far the greatest movie ever,it wasnt that bad.Not near the 'total crapfest' that others have stated. Nice bit of escapism for a rainy afternoon.I did enjoy some of the scenery, parts of it WAS actually filmed in Scotland.I was there in fall 2004 on vacation & recognized Urquhart Castle,on the south edge of Loch Ness & a few other things in the film.
Such as 44 minutes into the film you'll see a shot of this large old steel cantilever bridge spanning a body of water. That bridge is actually spanning Loch Linnhe, near Ballachulish, near the Glencoe region about 60 miles or so southwest of Loch Ness.I know for a fact its the same bridge as the pic I took on my trip, because the exact same houses, small village etc are at the water's edge. Also there's other things I noticed when zooming in & comparing the two shots.
The Ballachulish Bridge (which I can see from my front garden if it's not raining and was built in the mid 1970s) actually spans the narrows at the end of Loch Leven - but let's not split hairs - the fact that they immediately afterwards turn left and go over the Coren Ferry - AWAY from Loch Ness seems a bit odd though...
I'm enjoying it actually. I just rented it and, despite some of the flaws, am getting into it. Sure it's a JAWS ripoff, but what's wrong with that,as long as they make it entertaining. Jaws was the best, so at least this film has good ground work.
It is timeless as well. What a pleasure to find this on at 2am in the morning on the Chiller channel in the USA. I was hoping to find the Werner Herzog shockumentary "The Incident at Loch Ness".
The reality I am watching blows Werner away, and this is fiction!
