Liza was very charismatic, entertaining and talented.
If you have to leave a legacy as an entertainer, you could do worse than this TV show. Especially with huge shadows like Judy Garland and Vincent Minelli hanging over you.
I like how she could be sexy without being naked. Seems like these days, sexiness = hardly any clothes. Even when Liza wore a short dress, at least she still had tights on.
Fosse deserves his due credit too. He definitely knows how to choreograph.
I just watched this concert on Showtime (I still remember every second from 1972, the year I graduated from high school, it was THAT intense) and you'd better grab a box of tissues, it is a 50 minute cry-feast. I agree that it made her a legend just like her mother. I can still barely hold back the tears. I can't wait to order the DVD. I am making all 4 of my daughters order one... this is a once in a lifetime event I want them to have to share with their children.
I just got the DVD in the mail today from Netflix and just finished watching all of it. I just have one thing to say, Liza Minnelli was and still is a phenomenal talent and what a joy it is to see all that talent shine in that wonderful production. WOW!!!
Sorry about the mispelling mrpswan. I was too excited to look up the correct spelling. Vincent Minnelli is one of my favorite directors of his generation.
