Separated at birth?

Liza and Streisand could be sisters, don't you think? Both have incredible voices that could belt out the tunes like no others. True, they look nothing alike, but they were two powerhouse women in the early 70's.

These two were the last of the 'belters'. No one now or since can come close to reaching the stratosphere with the notes they reached.

Thank god I was old enough to enjoy them all those years ago.

I disagree.

If we are talking white women entertainers, I think Bette Midler is on their level. I haven't seen too much of her act, but many seem to think a chick named Joss Stone has some pipes.

If we are talking black women entertainers, there are rafts of talented women who are still around. Starting with Aretha Franklin and Patti Labelle. Younger singers like Jill Scott and Mary J. Blige can blow with the best of them.

I do agree that the talent is rare these days because music companies tend to promote "pretty little things" who have shallow style over substance.

I have never thought of Streisand and Minnelli as sisters seperated at birth. They both are extremely talented performers but they are completely different kind of performers and comparing them is just wrong.

Huh??? Don't get the Mary J Blige nonsense. As for Patti Labelle,
if one can't find her CDS, no matter - just run a rake across a blackboard.
You'll get similar results.

Aretha is a soul singer and in no way is comparable to Liza Minnelli.

I'd say the closest thing to Liza Minnelli is Ethel Merman. They were
both belters, but didn't/don't possess particularly pretty voices.

The two greatest singers of all-time are Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand.
They are in a league of their own.
