Perfect Strangers !

I recently saw this film. It is amazing! The story is excellent, the actors brilliant! Actor JJ Feild gave a brilliant performance as Richard – the long lost son. But that is not a miracle…he is the best actor in the world. Go on Mr. Feild, I want to see more of you! And thanks to Mr. T. who gifted me with this film and another one (of course both with JJ Feild!). You are really one of the greatest persons in this world! Thanks just for being the way you are ! I will never forget you!

Cheers, Irma

I have just watched this great drama. Matthew macFadyen was brillant in it. He was quite young in it and showed what a subperb actor he is. He knows his craft. He sizzles on screen. Micheal Gambon, Linsey Duncan and T Sprall where very good too. Very enjoyable

Hello. You might like to know that Perfect Strangers was the first acting job Matthew MacFadyen had, shortly after leaving drama school...and some debut it proved to be! Since then, Matthew has appeared in a popular British television series called "Spooks", and in several more "serious" dramas, including re-makes of some classics.

reply

It wasn't even his first TV job.

His first acting job out of RADA - which he got almost immediately - was with the Cheek By Jowl theater group in a highly acclaimed production of The Duchess of Malfi - it was a world tour in fact. Rave reviews.

For TV or film Macfadyen had done Wuthering Heights (1998), Warriors (1999), Maybe Baby and Enigma (2001).

I must say 'Almost Strangers' is a must for all Matthew macFadyen fans.

Just subperb. Brillant acting from Matthew macFadyen and Micheal Gambon and Linsey Duncan. The scenes between Matthew and Micheal Gambon and Linsey Duncan were brillant.

I actually had to watch this for my work experience placement of all things...but I didn't mind it was fantastic! I need to watch more Poliakoff dramas now!

I just watched this movie. It was a good movie, with a lot of twist, but please help me understand why 'Daniel' was making love to his cousing!!!!

How do you mean?

Wasn't the girl Daniel was infatuated with or whatever, his cousin?

reply

Oh, yeah, she was.

i loved this too - went out and bought the video as soon as it hit the shops (i didn't have a dvd player in those days *sniff*) daniel never really did it for me - he actually quite annoyed me if i'm honest. I MUCH preferred Toby Stephens the guy who played charles (and also played Mr Rochester in the recent BBC adaptation of Jane Eyre)- would have liked to have seem a LOT more of HIM! lol ;) (he's maggie smith's son, which is always a bonus)i personally would have preferred to see someone like Dan Stephens (yes, that's DAN - not a typo of Tony - totally different person) play Daniel.

is it now weird to anyone else that 'Daniel' was sleeping with his cousin?

reply

They weren't first cousins or anything, i think the link was reasonably distant. Also they had only just met each other as adults.

reply

They were only distant cousins, probably second- or third cousins. Besides, it wasn't like they had grown up together as brother and sister, so I don't see how that was strange at all.

reply

I second that. Matthew each time I see him in a new film astonishes me anew, and this was no exception. Simply brilliant, and such an eye candy, especially here. Hehe, I think this is as much nudity as we will ever see of him, I'm afraid, and he is simply beautiful in this movie, and very sexy. It also helps that the movie itself is such a great piece of art. So touching, so profound, so beautiful, and the music is, too. This movie and music make me cry just from their sheer beauty, it doesn't happen often to me. Simply wonderful.
