I have read a few comments how there are elements similar to Guillermo Del Toro's Crimson Peak (that came out last year).
I loved that movie (I know some didn't) and know this is also by Del Toro. I love the gothic element.
just the ghost wanting it's "revenge" , and it's "story" told, that's about it.

Not at all. Eedd is definitively a few leagues above. I didn't like Crimson Peak very much, except for the great soundtrack and costumes. Underwhelming movie overall.

I found Devil's Backbone superior to Crimson Peak, and I enjoyed Crimson Peak.
