What was that little box thingy he burnt in front of the darkling? As far as I remembered, he had been told that the only way to destroy it would be killing both hosts while the darkling was moving between them.... Did I miss something? And what was the whole thing with daddy whirling the beast around, and the girl not giving *beep* about him being the darkling in the end?
I feel so *beep* stupid right now...
Can anyone help, please? I really wanna get this film.

The box was magnesium, because it burns brighter than pretty much anything else available to average people. And by sending his daughter out of the room he made sure that only he was there for the Darkling to posess. So the plan was to kill the Darkling, and while the spirit moved to his body, hed die from massive burns as well. But his daughter came in and drageed him (thats why he was saying "No, let me die!"). so he got inhabited by the darkling.
