Hook

Does anybody know why in this production, Captain Hook's hook is on his left hand, instead of his right, as in the book? Any reasonings would be great!
Thanks

PS-Yesterday was Cathy's last run as Peter Pan! SOB!

The actor is right handed and it would be easier on the left?

I was thinking maybe it was due to the fact that he was right handed, and needed to perform a realistic sword fight, unlike Mary Martin's Hook, where he had the hook on his right hand.

Sword play must be done by a right handed actor...except for the understudy who was left handed and had to do it backwords!

I played Captain Hook this past summer and chose to wore it on my right hand, even though I am right-handed.

The rather complex sword fighting took a day or so of getting used to, but it wasn't that difficult.

I played Captain Hook over Spring Break last year and even though I am right handed, I used my left hand for the hook.

Because Jason Isaacs may be right handed, but even he had to learn to use his left hand. I think all Hooks should learn to do that for the part.

I think Captain Hook is an awesome role. He's been played by Jason Isaacs and Dustin Hoffman an Cryal Richards,in the ( Mary Martin Version). I think Jim Carrey would totaly kick ass as Captain Hook. I think the next time this show runs on broadway with an all new cast and production company. I think Carrey would be great with this role because he is very animated especily with his other roles. He is also versitle in many ways. I think Carrey is pretty tall in real life, so he would deffently look scary to little kids. I think this would be a great way for him to branch out a bit from movie roles. I know he might have to take singing lessons. I know if he ever did a Captain Hook role, he would surely be remembered for it. If I could picture him playing the part, I could imagin him, just like he was in the Disney movie. But I am sure if he did the role his own way. I am sure he would have a dark sense of humor and maybe get a bit rough when it comes to sword fighting. So I would see a bit of Jason Isaacs antics mix with the Disney movie. That's how I think Carrey would handle the part. Captain Hook is the best Villain in the world to me. If they ever remade the Wizard of oz, I would have to pick Jim to play the Scarecrow, nows thats something too he could be remembered by. Otherwise he would pull it off really well. "WHAT WOULD THE WORLD BE LIKE WITH OUT CAPTAIN HOOK" aka Dustin Hoffman.

Well, Jim Carrey would be good for Hook, but he's a comedian. Hook needs to be frightening, a life force, so alive, scare the audience, he has to have a dark heart completely. He cannot have any good in him. And Jim Carrey is a wonderful actor and would be great, but he wouldn't be frightening enough.

I think the reasoning in this is, a lot of people are right handed and though I agree in the book Hook's hook is on his right hand in films (see Disney's version) Hook has always been missing his left hand in other productions, it is just tradition just like the actor playing Mr Darling always plays Hook too.
