Techniques in the pic


I'm usually not a fan of handheld and direct-to-camera address, but it works so perfectly in this film! When MLK gives his first speech about the boycott in the church (freedom runs like water), the move to handheld really gives us the feeling of being there.

And, the way the characters will subtely address the camera for one or two important lines is so tgerribly effective in creating a documentary feel.

Brilliant filmmaking.
