Yogi Bear Movie?

Amazing! That's exactly what I came here to discuss!

But I think my answer is probably going to be 'no'. I'd love to see a Yogi movie, and I loved the Scooby movie too, but I think Yogi misses the human cast opportunities and would probably seem dumb to most movie goers.

That said, I did start a treatment for a Yogi Bear film. It centred around Ranger Smith, who was having a hard time at home and was also worried recent strengthening of regulations at Jellystone would deter further visitors.

My idea was to make Yogi an 'imaginery' bear, a kind of manifestation of Smith's turmoil and an attempt by him to sort out his problems. Yogi's relationship with Boo Boo would mirror that of Smith's with his son.

The problem is, as an imaginery bear Yogi could only appear when the Ranger was around and it just stopped being a Yogi Bear movie and became a sentamental story about an over-protective parent and his wayward son.

I imagined it as a cross between a sort of [National Lampoons] 'Jellystone Vacation' (if you can imagine that) and the old Jimmy Stewart film 'Harvey'. I guess you could see a bit of 'Pete's Dragon' in there too.

Maybe I'll go back to it some day...

I've been thinking about this for awhile and I think I know how to do it. Use motion capture CGI for Yogi and Boo Boo. The plot is that a land developer wants to use Jellystone park to build a new subdivision, or maybe dig for oil who knows, and it's up to Ranger Smith and the two bears to put a stop to it by driving up business to Jellystone park and get public opinion on their side.

Ranger Smith - Christian Bale (Couldn't get him but how cool would that be?)
Land Developer - Fred Thompson (assuming he loses the presidential election)

I even have an idea for the early teaser poster: A picnic table with basket on top, behind it a large bush, bear hands are grabbing the basket through the bush. Under the bush you see the bears feet and above the bush you see his green hat but nothing else. At the bottom of the poster the words "Who Else?" Comming this Summer
