This is better than 'THRILLER'

This makes me wonder what other classic gems are out there in TV land that we don't know about. I've never heard of this series before. I subscribe to Netfilx and just stumbled upon it and ordered it out of curiousity. It is incredible to watch an old tv series in craystal-clairy that never even was aired! I was 1 year old when this series was made. Technology RULES. I wouldn't say "The Veil" is as good as, say, the Twilight Zone, and by today's standards, the stories are very predictable, but at least it is supernatural, which makes this series much better than the other Karloff series, "THRILLER". I was very disappointed in that one. Its more about cops and robbers than anything else. I found it very boring. But "The Veil" is a rare treat! If you haven't seen it, it would be well worth your time.

"Its more about cops and robbers than anything else"

You must not have seen that many episodes of THRILLER. While there were some crime drama episodes a la ALFRED HITCHCOCK, nost were grounded in horror.

Thriller was scary enough to give a young Steven King nightmares and make him want to write horror stories himself, I would say it was far from boring.

I haven't seen "Thriller" in over 40 years, but I still shiver thinking about some of the episodes I saw as an 8 or 9 year old.
I read that the first four or five episodes were just "Cops and Robbers" but after that it went in the direction of horror and became one of the scariest and best shows of the classic television era (1950-1980)

I disagree with you. I think there was only 2 or 3 that was good of The Veil. I like Thriller much better.

Agreed with everyone except for the OP. Thriller is 50 times better than The Veil.

We can DO IT ALLLL DAY LONG, (We'll have to pay more for the light bill if we do it at night!)

Judging by your post, I gather that you tried to watched "Thriller" in sequence. The first dozen or so episodes are as you described, however, at about the episode, "The Purple Room" things begin to change and for the better (at least from a horror buff's point of view). Since your post is several years old now, there's a good chance you've seen "Thriller" episodes like Pigeons From Hell, A Wig for Miss Devore, The Grim Reaper, The Hungry Glass and countless other stories that focuses on real Shock-Value horror. By Shock Value I don't refer to wholesale gore. But for it's time it's themes could often be quite violent.

If you haven't seen these later episodes, I suggest giving them a try. Only you might as well pass on the very LAST episode which is like the first ones, and isn't really that interesting.

I agree about "The Veil" being good. It's well worth seeking out.

This is nowhere near as good as THRILLER.

I like both shows, PrometheusTree. Thriller had a chance, The Veil didn't. It was made by a major studio, not the small time one that Hal Roach, Jr. ran. Also, Thriller allowed for more character development, while The Veil was, of necessity, plot driven. The Veil is, for me, a wonderful surprise, a great find I only recently discovered for myself, while Thriller is a childhood favorite and, in my book, a classic. I find it difficult to compare these two rather different kinds of shows, one of which enjoyed a two season run, the other didn't have a run at all after a few episodes were offered to the network (networks?). They seem to me,--to make a comparison of a different kind--rather like Twilight Zone (Thriller) and One Step Beyond (nearer to The Veil as to subject matter). One was a modest success, the other had a shorter run, or, in the case of The Veil, no run at all.
