The 1973 movie "Encounter With the Unknown" had 3 segments. In the 2nd segment, a boys dog disappears while he is fishing. That night, the boy leaves his room to look for the dog. He finds a hole with creepy sounds coming from within. Inhabitants of the small town (the year is 1906), are all afraid, but curious about the small hole.
The first segment is about a practical joke that results in a death, the dead boy's mother puts a curse on the responsible boys.
The third segment is the familiar story of the woman on the bridge.
All three tales are linked to a single cometary.
The film has an opening narration and each story had it's own narration. The segment narrations are delivered by Rod Serling. Apparently this is his last.
I like this movie. The critics generally didn't. I did feel that the hole in the ground story was the creepiest of the three.
