I just started getting into GFL on ABCF the past few months. It's turned into my favorite show, the writing and acting is the best I've seen on a sitcom. I'm just finding out that the show was cancelled, what was the reason behind it? I can't believe a show of this quality would be cut like that, it's very dissappointing.
sharei blame FOX. they never keep shows in the same time slot except for the Simpsons, sunday night at 8. People can't watch a show every week if they never know when its on

shareYea Fox cancels alot of good shows. But Fox is not the only network that does that The CW, formerly the WB, also cancels alot of good shows. It really is a shame because right now the whole genre of the sitcom is really weak. There are really no sitcoms on any network that are as good as Grounded for Life, and others that were on during its time.

sharei think this show is way way way better than 8 simple rules. this show is funny 8 simple rules isn't it's a piece of *beep* this is the only show i watch on abc family. i was gonna get seasons 1 and 2 of 8. i changed my mind. boy, am i glad i did. not worth it.
shareThe CW made a big mistake keeping 7th Heaven. they got this renewed hope because the ratings for the first finale were so high (only because everyone wanted to see the thing FINALLY come to an end), so they renewed the show and kicked Everwood (grr) out instead.
shareEspecially the effort to create real characters...not everyone gets married and then has 2 or 3 perfect little children. I'm an illegit child myself so I guess I can identify. Too many other family-based sitcoms are too fake.
shareI don't even like sitcoms. Maybe Big Bang Theory. but since this show was new, I ALWAYS loved it, and I still do. I'm so glad it's on Netflix.
shareI just watched season 5 today (wasn't sure if I had seen it all on ABC Family) and I missed Henry a lot. They did a crappy job of addressing it too, just a "Oh, Henry's somewhere" in the last episode. I think he and Eddie are the funniest characters.
shareAgreed, I absolutely love this show. They started airing reruns before on ABC before the final few episodes were aired, but I still only ever watched it on ABC. I haven't seen it in a while, actually.

I agree. I would say this is the funniest sitcom I've seen on TV. The characters are amazing and all their quirks flow together flawlessly.
And I relate to the kids as well as the parents. My dad lives with me and my four kids and there is a 16 year age difference between oldest to youngest. I swear this is my life. Right down to my Irish husband and his bachelor brother.
The way they go back and explain things in hindsight a little at a time is brilliant.
I sure do wish there was a way to bring it back, but I don't guess that is possible.
And I have a crush on both Sean and Eddie for various reasons.
I am not flaming, just being honest.. I have no idea how people can find this show funny.. Every single joke is recycled, and it's not even of high quality.. I'm watching it right now, and I'm going to find the next thing the laugh track is put on.

This show is so horrible, after one minute of viewing i wanted to gouge out my eyes. The jokes are horribly lame they could be in a Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer movie. The charactors and acting are cringe-worthy. I can go on forever but thinking about this show is giving me diarrhea.
So one minute of it was so bad it made you want to gouge your eyes out, yet you have watched enough beyond that minute, without gouging out your eyes, to call it such a terrible show? Or did you base your judgment on that one minute? If you're going to flame at least be creative and double check you story.

I can't believe the execs at FOX haven't been castrated for producing this *beep* The jokes aren't funny and every time I hear the laugh track my skin crawls. I bet the guy controlling the laugh track looping machine gets paid thousands for having the balls to even simulate applause and laughter to this *beep*

nah this show rocks!!true some jokes flop, but its sooo endeering i dont even care, because i like the characters and some jokes are really funny. i love this show sooo much, i love it like an old pair of shoes i love to wear a lot.

loved this show when it was on abc, but lost track of it after the first two seasons. just found it again on abc family and catch it whenever i can.
it's a great old-school sitcom. sure, it's no arrested development, but it's a quality show nonetheless.
the writing is pretty good, but it's the performances that set it apart. the entire cast is hilarious.
It was one of the few sitcoms I watched during the '00s.

I LOVE THIS SHOW. Sean Finnerty is hysterical - love the hair, too!
The wife is a perfect yin to his yang....the brother, kids, daughter especially - all great characters because they blend so well, yet contrast at the same time.
This is a well written show.
One of the funniest sitcoms of all time, and I've been watching it since it started. It just never gets old, and never fails to make me laugh even though I know the dialogue practically by heart.
