Too short

Okay no one really posts here, but I'll say it anyway. The movie is way too short,I felt that the ending was a total let down.Although we can predict that the family doesn't seem to have a bright future I would have like to seen it acted out in the film.

A little madness in the spring is wholesome even for a king

Many ways to think about the end
I personally think the father leaves the house and family and goes to America as many others during those days

Frears doesn't want to tell us, he wants us to give an end..........whatever we want

I know, I just saw it yesterday.
The ending was really annoying, it's just like they suddenly ran out of money when they was making it.. No point at all.

i was bothered that she apologized to the father even tho he'd just thrown that bottle through the window which caused her to go up in flames and SHE apologized. yikes!
i rented Liam b/c i'm a big fan of Anne Reid (the teacher). I was really impressed with the children's performances. it was a bleak story but well done.

Interesting film, it was in my dad's dvd collection I borrowed.
He grew up in Liverpool in the 50's, and me in the 70's and 80's, still is a $hithole.

Was a bit short, truncated more like, I would have liked to have seen more development with a few plot devices.

All in all not a bad film, crummy DVD transfer though, was it that dark, and I don't mean bleak, in the cinema too?

I think it is a good ending point. I mean, where can it really go from there?

It was too dark, though.

I liked this movie though. It was quiet and seen from the eyes of the child. I felt so sorry for the two children who were scared into beliving in God.
