I just finally beat the game for the 1st time (spoilers)

I've owned the game since 2004 but never did I play it. I just finished Just Cause 2 for the PS3 and I'm wondering which game should I try to tackle next. I was looking at my shelf and all the way at the bottom was The Legend of Dragoon. I picked it up, looked at the back and thought to myself, I think it's due for me to play and beat LoD. I've put a little over 50 hours in total and my team was Dart level 38, Albert 37 and Kongol 36.

First off, this is a great game and I do recommend it to all JRPG fans. When it was first released, I read the review and saw the scores at Gamespot and IGN and it sounded like a total letdown. 2004 came around and I actually got the game as a Christmas gift. I'm saddened I didn't play and enjoy this game much sooner.

Anyways, I did think the 1st disc was rather slow and I did feel like putting the game down for the likes of FF13 and just move on but I stuck to my guns and determination on beating LoD.

I honestly did not think Lavitz would die and was shocked they killed him off especially that early in the game. Lavitz was cool and did not want to lose him from my party but then Albert stepped in who is just as cool as Lavitz.

The scenery was awesome. I loved the landscapes and enjoyed seeing where each path takes me. I know it's a very old game but the graphics were a bit pixelated, however, I don't remember FF7 being that pixelated on a tube tv so I'm guessing it's more from the LCD tv. Either way, graphics shouldn't detract from the awesome adventure that this game provides.

One thing I struggled at was the later and better Additions. I did get better overtime but I still couldn't nail it 100% of the time and when it came to the bosses, hitting those Additions was almost required. However, the Additions are pretty cool and it's a nice addition to the actual gameplay tho I feel they could have executed that box thing a little better for at least the faster Additions.

While turning your characters into a Dragoon was pretty cool, I really felt it was really needed for the boss fights and I guess depending on your level equipment, turning into a Dragoon is not really needed.

There's 2 things I really didn't like and I guess the developers did this to make the game not that easy. First thing is you can only hold a limit of 32 items. There was times where I needed the extra space so I can carry a decent amount of Mind, Body and Prayer items. The 2nd thing is Gold is absurdly limited if you don't grind for Gold which I didn't. As far as difficulty goes, I did find the game rather easier than I thought it would be. The hardest boss(s) for me was actually a boss on the 1st disc. Their names are Drake and Jiango.

I do have a few more things to say but to keep this short, this is a great game and I'm surprised Gamespot and IGN gave out a score less than 8/10.

I personally give it a 8/10. I also hope the PSN gets this game so for people who have not played it can get a chance too.

Yeah, I might buy a cheap old tube tv so I can play my SNES and PS1 games. I still need to beat Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy 9. Infact, I have Chrono Cross still in it's original wrapping, lol. As for FF9, I did get to the last disc but I couldn't beat one of the bosses. I will have to start from the beginning tho as I don't remember much of it.

I played this through a looong time ago when it was still relatively new. I'm now playing through it again for the sake of nostalgia, and I still love it. I think most of your criticisms are spot on (except for the one about the first disc being slow. For some reason, the first disc has always been my favorite one). But overall I always really enjoy playing this game. I'd love to see it get released on the PSN... or heck, I'd love to see it get completely remade for the PS3. Imagine that game with PS3 graphics... *shudders in joy just thinking about it*

My team I always play with is Dart, Albert, and Rose

My biggest beef with the game was that you couldn't switch Dart out for someone else. I know he's the main character and all, but I get tired of ALWAYS having to have him as one of my fighters. Especially since he's kind of a weak character, combat-wise. If I had the choice to, I'd probably switch him out for Haschel or Kongol.

I hope our little game isn't causing you to perspire.

You thought the first disc was slow? I thought it was the most well-paced disc in the whole game, and it had a sense of urgency (because of the war) that the other 3 did not
