Loved It!

One of the best Godzilla movies IMO. Anyone agree?

reply

Not personally. It has its moments, but overall, I find it to be a pretty bland entry. Though I've also seen worse in the series.

It was okay, but I hated the major. What were they thinking? I could have dealt with the fact that the actress isn't very attractive if it had been a good character. But she was just annoying all the way through.

And I don't get the final pre-credit scene. The guy whines it's a broken arm and then the picture freeze-frames on her. Huh? What the hell kind of ending is that?

There's a post-credit scene that you should see. It will clear up some things for you. In fact, post-credit scenes are a kind of trademark of the director, Masaaki Tezuka. All of his Godzilla films have them, and they're all meaningful story-wise.

All of Massaki Tezuka's post ending credit scenes include a cameo of the director. In GODZILLA X MEGAGUIRUS, he's a school teacher with children on a school yard. In GODZILLA X MECHAGODZILLA, he's a technician walking across a bridge in the docking area for Kiryu. In GODZILLA X MOTHRA X MECHAGODZILLA, TOKYO S.O.S, he's wearing a white coat (in a very tight shot). All of these cameos occur as his credit appears on the screen.

GODZILLA X MEGAGUIRUS is a wild and wholly, action-packed adventure.

It was meant to offset, somewhat, what was perceived as the rather dark nature of GODZILLA 2000 MILLENNIUM. They hired a self-professed Godzilla fan, Masaaki Tezuka, to direct, who brought elements of the Showa Series to this entry. GxM is a lot of fun, and if you're willing to accept some things and take the film and its rather fantastic story and narrative on their own terms, you'll have a good time.

GODZILLA X MEGAGUIRUS was directed by a fan of the genre in general and of Godzilla in particular.

And it shows. But it's one of the things I love about it.
