Wonderful Film!

I never saw this advertised in Seattle theaters, but was fortunate to find it on DVD from the King County Public Library, under the title The Circle. See this film! Banned in Iran, powerful, haunting. I don't think it is just about religion, just about women, or even just about the authoritarian regime in Iran. It is about humans, and how we can enlarge our circle of restrictions by supporting one another. Great acting, wonderful script, masterful shooting. See this film. Watch the interview of Panahi, too.

I just rented this. I thought it was a masterpiece for conveying so much with little dialogue. The first part, all done in one take is impressive too. To live the way those women do, with so much fear and so few avenues for hope - really heartbreaking.

I've seen this film with some Iranians (most of them women) who had never seen this film in Iran. This film has not been distributed to a large extent in Iran, so my friends hadn't seen it until they moved out of the country. They claim that this film exaggerate a lot. Women don't (usually at least) live under that bad conditions in Iran.

Being an Iranian I thought this aswell. I was born in England but have visited Iran on several occasions. To my knowledge woman aren't treated that serverely in Iran, yet I did think, most of the leading women in the film had that morning escaped from prison. This may or may not have had an affect on not only how they were to be treated, but also, how they were acting. On the most part very impatient, not that that has anything what so ever to do with anything what so ever.

it's not a documentary

it's narrative fiction

fiction is seldom a true representation of reality
