Arghhhh! Better editing, please!
There is a retrospective of this director's work at Harvard University this week. I saw Day of the Beast there, and this one. Man, I don't get all these huge raves. Don't misunderstand me, I think the writer's ideas are very fun and intriguing and entertaining. It's just that somebody needs to teach this director the value of editing. All the other film elements- screenplay, acting, set design- all are very well done. It's just that the films go on way too long. Both of the ones I have mentioned here could easily be cut by 25%, and both seemed most lagging in their final 1/3. I don't think I felt that way about El Crimen Ferpecto, but I saw it awhile ago.
