anyone else hated Erika?

Don't get me wrong, I don't consider this to be a problem with the movie. Not all protagonists are meant to be likable, I get that, but did anyone else hate Erika as much as I did?

She just comes off really mean and nasty the whole movie. Whether it be brutally criticizing her students, chastising young boys for showing interest in pornography (when she herself does too), teasing and torturing Walt during acts of intercourse, and most vile of all, slipping broken glass into her student's coat pocket.

I get that she's a sexually repressed woman who simply doesn't know how to handle her inner frustrations and living with her horrible mother, but I'm not sure was I meant to hate her as much as I did. When compared to another mean music teacher, Fletcher from Whiplash, I personally found her much more deplorable. LOL

Anyone else felt this way?

You couldn't sympathise with her, she was a horrible person inside and out. She put glass in a young girls coat pocket. Nuff said.
